Need input re police clearance certificate
Please provide input on the following issue. I have been offered a good position in Qatar, which I have accepted subject to "final management approval." One of the requirements of course is a police clearance certificate. I just received my police record , and there is an old arrest listed there (my only one, from 1974) for marijuana possession. There is no record of prosecution, and there is a notation of "NCF" (which means "no charges filed" but unfortunately there's no definition for the acronym on the form). My question is, in light of the fact that this is the Middle East, will this notation disqualify me for a work permit/resident visa, full stop, or is there some hope? Thanks in advance for any input.
Anything Can happen here in Middle East...
life does move in circles.
After moving around globe for many years I am now back where I started...Thanks.
I'm curious, you live where you did in 1974? Because the police clearance is only necessary from your present local jurisdiction.

Thanks Mandi. If anyone else out there has a feel for this issue, please post. I've been offered another job and I would hate to pass that up if chances in Qatar have been quashed by this development (I'd really forgotten about this as it has never posed an issue before at all!). Thanks for your help.
I wish someone could say, but this is the Gulf so it depends. On what? Well, the mood of the visa-issuing officer that day, your employer's wasta, your prospective job title. These things are never even written, much less written in stone. So I'd guess I'd say there is always hope.
