We are expecting a baby soon..but my wife is not under my sponsorship..She has a residence permit sponsored by her company. Do we need to transfer her visa under my sponsorship...for her to be able to give birth here in doha and for us to be able apply for the residency of our child?

Anyone can advice...please! Thanks!!!

if i have missed mentioning any docs...dont worry the womens hospital will still treat your wife.they will just withold your id until you get the documents they require.

if this is the first visit to womens hospital then they will specifically want the marriage certificate copy.once they have a file then no hassles.

how far along is she.....if you dont mind telling us?

i think i mentioned it as hamad before......that was a mistake it is womens hospital behind hamad.

oh as a caution...if you are going to the ER of womens hospital...ask her to go with a book and water to drink...it can take a long time there.if its done quickly...then alhamdullilah.an hour waiting is almost a must.

you people are too kind with kind words.

anyway i did try to call my friend...she was on vacation some time back....not sure now.i will try to speak to her later and see if she says any different.but i do know for certain that she is on the company sponsor and her hubby works elsewhere on another sponsorship.she did give birth here...but will still confirm with her if the baby is on her or hubby's sponsorship.may not be on hubby 'S' since he doesnt earn enough to keep family......get it?

has yor wife started going to hamad...bcos if not when you do go to hamad for the appointments...go with all the papers...passport copies, id copies and marriage certificate.dont remember if they need anything else.

the reason for my quick reply is becasue i know how it feels likes if you are in a dilemma and are looking for advice. waiting doesnt help.....so if i have a little information that can help you...it will put you at ease until you get further replies.

Wow! Very fast and very helpful information!!! Thank you so much for your reply!

We actually have our marriage certificate authenticated by our embassy and we haved it stamped also by the ministry of...(i forgot which ministry).

Although I think I am eligible to sponsor her, as my salary is slightly above the required rate...we dont want to transfer her sponsorship because she has some benefits that might get withdrawn if we do...and her company is better than mine...:)

Thanks again and if you still have other info...pls let me know.

this should not be problem...if you can transfer her visa under your sponsorship.....then you can have the rp for the baby in your name.

have your marriage certificate with you...preferably attested by the embassy...you will have to submit that document....

for giving birth you dont need to tranfer sponsorhip. i have a friend who was on company sponsorship and had a baby...no problems at all.by the company and labour law she is entitled for maternity and if she applies she should be able to get the rp for the baby on her name. but you will still need the marriage certificate for all this to prove the relation.

if i get to know anything else....i will let you know.let me try speaking to my friend.
