Old Chest Scars on X-Ray/Latent TB

Hi All,

I have just accepted a job offer from a Doha based Construction company located in West Bay area. I am a brit and currently working in Scotland.

On some research I have found that Qatar  is very strict on chest scars and have zero tolerance policy towards it. I suffered from TB when I was a child 25 years ago and but was treated successfully back then and since then I never had any health issues of any kind. But I do have scars on my chest (also knows as Latent TB) and my worry is that this may cause problems for me in Qatari Medical tests for my work permit although I am a 100% healthy individual.

My question is do health authorities declare people with chest scars( or latent tb) medically unfit and deport them or do they only declare someone medical unfit if they have Active TB?

Anyone who knows about this topic kindly please shed some light on it. I have tried to ask this question from my recruitment agent but he doesn't have a clear answer for me.

your help on this is appreciated.

Best Regards,

Andy

You should be talking to the HR Dept or PRO of your new company as the company will be responsible financially for sending you home if that is determined by the Qatar authorities. In any event, get official medical reports from your UK doctor concerning the exact status of your medical condition including testing info and xrays for use here in determining your medical condition (or lack thereof). Doctors here tend to be knee jerk re-activists to things like you mention unless you have another medical opinion and documentation to back the latter up.
