Opening a bank account

Do you need a Residency Visa i.e. Qatari ID to open a bank account in Qatar?
The reason I ask is that today I have signed my offer of employment and start April 29th, but my employer will only start the sponsorhip/visa process after completion of my 3 months probationary period. Since I will be paid every month, how can I get paid without a bank account for the first 3 months if my employer is not going to start the visa process until after this period

each bank has a different level of KYC measures for compliance purposes. Most company employees that eventhough they dont have yet issued with RP, accomodated to open for an account, especially if the bank is the chosen depository of the company.

under company referals, some banks offers zero balance privelege. but if you come for personal purposes, naturally, you have to sign account's opening form contract abiding what has in it contents.

did you check with the banks? when i landed in qatar, they opened mine within 2 days of arrival. no one gets RP by that time.....and for my wife, they accepted her as a 2nd applicant while she was yet to arrive into qatar. my employer had a role to play but still, check with various prominent banks.

or, why not ask the employer how they are going to handle?
