passport w/ less than 6 months validity

I entered Qatar on business visa, got a job and my employer will now process my residence visa. My concern is that my passport is less than 6 months to expiry. I now here in Qatar for 4 months and is holding a valid business visa until Dec. 20.

I tried to extend/renew my passport with Philippine embassy but was refused because I don't have residence visa yet. I was advised to go back to PI to renew my passport.

Can anyone tell me if there is a probability for a residence visa be stamped on my passport? My employer have just started doing the visa process. Your enlightenment will be highly appreciated.

If transfering from Business Visa to Working Visa youre employer still have ample time but I dont think that you have enough time for the residence visa as you need to take the medical exam and the finger printing before you can have the residence permit or visa. If the case is that your visa will expire by the 20th of December its either you will renew/extend your business visa or you can exit on one of the GCC near Qatar but I dont think you can enter one of the GCC as your passport's validity is under 6 months (as most of the countries require at least 6 months validity of the passport). If its the case I think you need to do what the Philippine Embassy advised you.

Just wait for your RP to be stamped on your passport then apply for passport renewal.

Why don't you wait for your employer's "enlightenment"?
