Phillipines immigration difficulties

Hi everyone

Hoping someone can give me some advice and help in my situation.

Basically I have been trying to go come to Qatar on a business visa but have been offloaded 3 times by the same officer.

1st time they required some documents from me
2nd time documents were submitted but they required proof from sponsor there.
3rd time they claimed my documents were false where in fact they are more than genuine. I have now been told a that it is going to be very difficult for me to leave the Philippines.

I am really upset about this and was wondering if there is anyone who can advise me on this or has a contact that can help me or assist me in this matter, will really appreciate all inputs.

All the time the same officers are the ones stopping me, personally I feel a little intimidated.

All items raised above may have some valid points, but on the other side, the Philippine Government is just protecting its constituents from possible violent treatment by foreign countries especially in the middle east. This mostly happened to those faking their credentials but don't actually know the work of the profession they assume. In the Philippines, fake documents are rampant, and you cannot almost know if it is genuine. Countries with good working relationship with the Philippines because they are treating its people right have no problem going there. That's why Filipinos who go to Thailand or Singapore can escape or cross to other countries because these countries don't care for people not their own. When problems happened to Filipinos in other countries because of their "hard headedness" or lawful act, it is the government of the Philippines who gets headache repatriating them / coordinating with embassies to get them back - because our government care.

for me following the procedure in working abroad is the best thing to do..just be a law abiding citizen.no need to bribe..It took me only 1 day to get my OEC when i was directly hired in dubai in 2008 (without agency I applied for it by my self)..I just followed the procedures and thats it..i pass thru the immigration smoothly.. But if you try to find your luck thru different channel..you have to know the consequences of it..

This is a sad reality. When I worked in another GCC country i had to succumb to the same route, where I pretended to go on a tour in Thailand. It was actually an advice given by the agency to me since the position that I qualified for is urgent. According to the agency, from experience, it took some of the applicants around 3 months to fly to middle east from Manila. Some even 6 months... And ofcourse there was the option of bribing them. sadnreality, but it is happening.

Do as many people who had the same problem. Go via Thailand and then to Doha. Many Filipinos go to Thailand with no problem.

Do you have a stamped visa in your passport?

By anonymous• 16 Aug 2012 03:12
anonymous

Not necessarily Mandi, POEA and immigration don't care about the company and even if the man has a legal visa, they just want their money.

By Mandilulur• 16 Aug 2012 01:14

Well, yes! Your sponsor/employer should intervene on your behalf. It must be frustrating and inconvenient for your employer not to have the services of a person he has hired to do a specific job for a specific amount of time. I am sure that the company that issued you the business visa and is awaiting your arrival will take care of this problem!

but it is upon us the suffering people who should do something about it. We lack that anger which fueled us when we booted out a tyrant. That is our problem: we have such short memories and we are bound to repeat history. We booted out a tyrant but afterwards we got a fake president who screwed everything. If only we could be united when fighting corruption. Alone we could only do so much.

By anonymous• 13 Aug 2012 15:47

Hu wan I fully appreciate the predicament of the Filipinos, for someone to make a stand against the corruption it could cost them personally and as you can see on this forum you have others that will support that corrupt system because a non Filipino critised it for what it is. (That is blind patriotism in the extreme)? This thread is relevant to Qatar. This man has a valid passport and a valid visa for Qatar yet he is held prisoner by his OWN country. Who are they to decide where and where not he can go

As you said you did it once and kicked out Marcos who was raping the country, now it's time to remove these agencies. Probably in the begging they were formed with the best intentions but now they are raping Filipinos financially for their benefit only.

but could only hope for the best for you. Was fortunate to have a working visa, but still I get to experience bad treatment from these. You know how they try to 'extort' someone sometimes. Remember, it's not talent or education that will make you succeed, but PERSISTENCE! Good luck bro!

Hey west life seriously considering what you have said, might be a route to use. I'm very un optimistic though. I don't understand these ppl we as humans do not have the right to travel..... Everyday they are offloading hundreds of passengers. Our airport is known to be one of the worst ones in the world...,

Poymassin they leave us with no such but to deal with it illegally. Why should we ave to resort to tis.... On the hunt for an escort!

By Hu Wan• 13 Aug 2012 12:37
Hu Wan

or anyone in that predicament. Would you fight it out with those Immigration officers or do something just so you could leave. What would be the repercussion if you fight these syndicate? Go to the media? By all means please do and you'll be our hero and even get our moral support. And whilst at it, your family and your dream of maybe getting a good paying job is at the doldrums. You're between the devil and sh*t! Don't you think this issue is not a well known fact with the media? Hell it is!! But our media is only good to a yard not the whole 9 of it!

By the way, why would someone giving her opinion/views about the freakingly frustrating system back home gets axe by the mods? She's asking the people to revolt? I fully agree with her. We did that to a tyrant why can't we do it again just to make our point and effect the much needed change. If she's lacking in her facts then enlighten her. Prove her otherwise with your opinion but don't go personal.

I think no need to pay. You don't have to pay just to coaxed them for you to be permitted to go out of the country. These immigration staffs are so corrupt coz the people are tolerating and feeding them up to be corrupt. They will not ask you for money or anything, but its the people itself who are making them to be corrupt by offering money to them just to say "yes" and "OK you can go".

the only way is to pay the corrupt immigration like escort... they need the under table money. and i hate the immigration in the Philippines. yes its true they are corrupt. and our government is blind of this corrupt immigration officers. . .

The problem is that you were off-loaded already for 3 times. And I think your name is already on their "watchlist" of Filipinos who are really trying to get out of the Philippines for good (I hope so not) as you said you were off-loaded by the same officer. So I guess he is already familiar with you.

Where are you in the Philippines by the way? If your in the Visayas, try leaving the country tru the Cebu International Airport or if your in the northern part of Luzon, use the Subic International Airport. I don't know if your name would appear in the immigration's list on those two airports I have mentioned but just give a try. Furthermore, don't go direct to Doha, instead have a 5 day tour first in Hongkong - as in real tour with all the iterinaries, back and forth tickets (Subic/Cebu - Hongkong then Hongkong - Subic/Cebu) and hotel accommodation. A travel and tour agency is the best solution for this matter. Quite expensive but that's the risk you'll have to take to conceal your real intentions. After your 5 day tour in Hongkong, no need now of course to go back to the Philippines but you'll be setting foot now to go to Qatar via Hongkong. That was so far the tactic I have recommended to my friend. He is now here in Doha. Just try your luck with that suggestion and good luck.

If you have all the required documentations, what's stopping them from loading you? At first you should have completed the requirements(visa, sponsor or company undertaking letter duly attested by the Phil. Embassy in Doha, Passport, Etc.). the best recourse is for you to avail a family visit visa. That could be possible only if you have 1st degree family members in Qatar having a minimum salary of QAR 5,000.

Philippines is a democracy, you have the ability to vote and change things if you don't like it. Yes, the system is flawed but if you tolerate bad and corrupt regimes by not voting against them then you will have to live with the consequences.

In Turkey, Netherlands, and the UK they do not check your visa before you fly to Qatar.

In Sri Lanka you are highly unlikely to be able to board a plane to Qatar without an appropriate visa.

One could speculate on the reasons.

Just mind ur own damn business. If we r doomed so what is that with u? unless u r a filipino pretending to be another one. Just get a life will u? Im outa here.

Robherr I am not advocating violent methods or revolution against the government of the Philipinees! I'm recommending that Filipinos, not me, through the democratic process vote for change in their country against the blood sucking POEA and it's corrupt bed fellows. I guess you are against what I propose because you are an employee or benefactor from such corruption.

I guess by your comments that supporting the Free Syrian Army against the murderous govt of Assad is also wrong and the Syrians should just accept their fate. If you are the example, then all Filipinos are doomed.

Filipinos the only way this will change is if you organise yourself! Form a pressure group to abolish the POEA and without this the immigration officials will not have the ability to suck money out of you to 'allow' you to leave the country.

Think how man OFWs there are and an economic force you can be. Ge organised, go for change!

Imran, until they change the system you only have two options.

1. Pay bribes to immigration to let you board

2. By a return ticket to another destination, say Singapore or Thailand and then get a connecting flight to Qatar. Even then they might not let you go, so go back to no. 1

You need to pay bribes that is what they are telling you.....

I've said this before Filipinos are prisoners in their own country and need permission to leave, which is the same as a child asking a parent for permission to play outside.

POEA, POLO and Immigration onl y exist to make themselves richer and the sooner Filipinos realise this and vote for change and petition their government the better it will be for Filipinos. Onl 3 countries require their citizens to get permission to leave, N. Korea, Cuba and the Philipinees. Do you really want to be in a club like that?

I will now get critised by Pinoys for speaking the truth, so go ahead defend a system that keeps you prisoners, takes your money and treats you like children!
