Hi Guys,

I have gone through the process for getting the passport of my baby born in Doha,Qatar.I believe my experience could be of help so I am outlining the steps to get the Indian Passport for a newborn in Doha,Qatar.

STEP 1 : OBTAIN BABY'S BIRTH CERTIFICATE.

1) Go to Hamad Women's hospital outpatient department's 3rd floor to apply for the baby's birth certificate.

2) The lady will give yourself an application form to fill.Supporting Documents needed are
a)Passport copies of parents.
b)Id (RP) copies of parents.
c)Attested marriage certificate.
d)Immunization card copy ( Original is yellow / green in color)
e)One slip (dont remember) which is given by Hamad Hospital staff.
TAKE ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS ALSO.
( If you baby is not born at Hamad, you will need to bring the information from the hospital where he/she was born.)

3) Make sure you fill all details properly. The name you give in the application form will be used in the Birth certificate which will be later used in the passport.
SO PLEASE DONT MISPELL YOUR CHILDS NAME OTHERWISE TO CORRECT IT WILL BE A LONG PROCESS.

4) If your wife is under husband sponsorship OR if both husband and wife are under same company sponsorship, They will accept the form. Pay QR 20 for each certificate (Its an original one). You can choose either Arabic / English Version. For each additional copy of the Birth certificate Hamad Hospital charges 20 QAR (So its your choice of how many birth certificate copies to take)

5) If the husband and wife are working for different sponsors, the application will be accepted and you will be asked to collect the birth certificate from the CID. The CID is located on Abu Samra road.

6) Once the application is accepted and payment is done( cash or CREDIT card) the lady will ask you to come after 4 to 5 working days.

7) Collect your babys birth certificate after 4 to 5 working days and AGAIN VERIFY THE CORRECT NAME SPELLING before you sign the document confirming that yourself has taken the birth certificate.
(If any change required tell the lady at that time itself)
So now you Baby has a birth certificate. MABROOK.

STEP 2 : Getting the Indian Passport.

8)Check if your passport contains your spouse name. If it does not then you have to endorse it.
Endorsing Spouse name :
a) Go to Indian Cultural centre with your original Passports : Location map link is below

Hi assadi.asim

Thanks for the elaborate guideline!

That is of real help!!

Do you mind answering a few queries?

1. should we attest the birth certificate in MOFA or in Indian embassy?

2. Is there a time limit within which PP and Visa for new born should be applied (before one month from the DOB or something like that)?

3. can you also guide to apply for resident visa for the new born after the PP is ready? medicals needed for visa stamping?

many thanks
