Hello Friends,

There has been a lot of different comments for the eligibility for family visa, some say you should have QAR7000 as salary and some say QAR7500, could you please advise which one is correct.

Thanks
Sunny

i think your information is still prevalent as of today and am not sure if the QR 7,000.00 basic Salary is being implemented already.

maybe some QLers could led their input on this.

else, am also not sure if this law is being implemented already since January 01, 2009.

Still the final decision rests on the Captain of Immigration.

Raising the bar

DOHA: Due to the increasing cost of living in the country, residents with a basic salary of less than QR7,000 a month might not be allowed to sponsor their wives and children here.

The authorities are taking a closer look at the possibility of raising the minimum monthly basic salary limit for residents to apply for family visas to QR7,000. The limit currently is QR4,500 but the recruitment committee responsible for clearing family visas for residents, is planning to increase the slab in the near future.

The idea behind a possible review of the minimum salary limit is to make sure that resident families live here comfortably. Families facing financial woes due to insufficient monthly income of their bread-winners can lead to unwarranted social problems.

The cost of living in the country has been rising over the past few years putting financial strain on limited-income families. House rentals have soared beyond the reach of families with limited resources. Food prices and the cost of educating children have all gone up. A source in the recruitment committee told Al Sharq: “Once the decision to raise the salary limit is taken, we are going to straightaway reject the request of an applicant for family visa if his basic salary is less than QR7,000.”

He added that ‘fool-proof’ measures were to be taken to ensure that applicants requesting permanent family visas do not produce doctored salary certificates to make sure they are eligible.

“We will be taking all possible steps to guarantee that no family visa applicant gets away with falsifying facts and figures. We are going to be very strict about implementing the rule once it is in force,” the source stressed.

Family Visa on residency shall be a minimum basic Salary of QR 7,000.00. While Family Visa on a Visit Visa (valid for 6 months) would be Qr 4,000.00 on the total Salary.
