Got this today from my travel agent in Dubai

Rules on Qatar Immigration

As per Qatar Immigration rules, it is absolutely essential that:

Ø All passengers travelling with following category of visa should have "OK TO BOARD" message updated on their PNR by DOH EK.

Ø Name and details on Qatar visa must match (correct to the last alphabet) with the passenger details on the passport.

OK TO BOARD MESSAGE shall be updated in the PNR by DOH EK for the following visa types:-

Ø Visas/ e-visas issued by the Qatar government for the purposes of employment

Ø Visas/e-visas issued for the purposes of tourism and/or Business.

Ideally, passenger holding these visas should also carry a copy of the same.

Important notes:-

The sponsor needs to arrange to update the PNR with an ‘OK TO BOARD’ message with the local Emirates office in Qatar.

The issuing / ticketing agent must ensure that the PNRs have been annotated with ‘OK TO BOARD’ message prior to ticketing.

Any passenger in possession of the original visa in hand may visit the local Emirates office for updating the PNR with the details.

For any group travel, the ticketing agents need to give an Indemnity for an ok to board, at the local Emirates office.

Agents/Sponsor in Qatar can call DOH EK on 00 974 4384477 and ask for Visa desk to get their PNR updated.

VISA Types Exempted

All passengers holding a valid RP (resident Permit) in their passports are not required to have a clearance from EK Qatar.

Seamen visas are also exempted from obtaining clearance from EK Qatar.

Please ensure that the regulation is strictly followed to avoid any inconvenience to the passengers at the immigration

Thank you

Prss - You have to go to their reservations office near the airport and show them the original Visa. They will update the PNR with the OK TO BOARD message.

Remember the Indian emigration will not clear them otherwise. 100%.

My wife and kid are travelling to Doha from India by Qatar Airways with just a print out of their visa. Can somebody give me the phone number of the Qatar Airways office in Doha to which I should call to update the PNR number of their ticket, with ‘OK TO BOARD’ message? This is urgent as they are travelling in a couple of days. Please help with the info.

This is a normal procedure.

PNR - Passenger name record, the five or six digit alpha numeric reference number of your resrvation.

OK TO BOARD - This is a procedure insisted by almost all countries when the passenger is not holding the ORIGINAL visa when travelling. This is to ensure the imigration department at your departure that the original visa is available on arrival. The message has to be given to the respective airline office at destination and they update this assurance from the sponsor.

EK is Emirates, The Airline will ask for faxing the visa to them and they will update it in the booking (PNR) that its OK TO BOARD the passenger since the Original Visa is avalable on arrival.

cheers

Unfortunately this guy is correct. I got turned away at the airport because of this. The guy at the counter told me that the OK to Board confirmation has to be updated with the PNR. My stupid travel agent had no idea of this as Qatar seems to be one of the few places that requires this.

Regardless, Im stuck because of this situation...

I do not know guys as i fully lack to understand this but it apperas this is more of from people going to Doha, EK Doha is for emirates Doha airline i guess so you probably now need some sort of PRN number updated before you could travel or something like this?

What is a PNR? and for that matter What is "DOH EK"? Does this mean that anyone with a valid RP does not need an exit visa?
