My wife and son are here on a family visit visa whilst we apply for our family residency status. Are they able to travel back to the UK whilst the family RP process is underway? Or will this void their visit visa and we will need to start again?

... sorry just to add, our family residency application commences Feb '16 (6 months bank statement date). All being well this will be responded to well in advance of June, subsequent to any changes needed.

Omarm88 - thanks for this. The issue is that their family visit visa will run out next June which coincides with when we want to go back to the UK for a visit. They would need a new visa of some sort anyway (new tourist / new family visit visa)

No, you can't go out of the country. If you do, you will need a new visa to return. Best option is to wait for the residencepermits
