Visa Cancellation Strange Rules

Do you know that for cancellation of a visit visa for your dependant. you need to take a return ticket even if the person is still in his home country and not planning to come

Last week i have gone to immigration department to cancel my visa( since iam leaving the country for good) and I had to cancel my mother's visa first.

I have taken my mother's visit visa a month ago and since she was not planning to travel to doha due to health reason. So I was told in the immigration department that I have to take a return ticket for my mother ONLY IN QATAR AIRWAYS to cancel her visa. I was infact shocked !! . I asked them why should i take a ticket for a person who is not coming to Qatar and they replied this is the rule here in Qatar. I have called Qatar Airways office to confirm that and Yes !! that is the rule.I had to to it in order to get her visa cancelled. Belive me this is the rule this is such a pathetic rule , i feel it's just a way of making money to Qatar Airways.

I sincerely request Qatar Residency Department to Review such strange rules which doesn't make sense, and not to give such worries and unnessary expense to the expatriates life.

Thanks samba , that was informative.

But i would like to make a few points

*  why only Qatar airways ticket

*   why should i take both way ticket , why cant they ask for only the ticket form qatar to home country

*    for a person on visit visa he can travel from his country only if i give a visa message , which cannot be done once the visa is cancelled

why do you have to cancel then visa ?. if the person visiting the country doesnt come within the stipulated period, the visa anyways becomes null and void anyways.

your aggresiveness in criticising everything about this country in such a manner is not good to your heart.  I never said stop criticising, but do it the "human" way!Are you in Qatar now?

He is leaving the country and that is why he is required to cancel the visa that has been issued on his behalf.

I dont think its a strange rule...

When a visa is issued either family or worker visa, it has a validity period of about 3-6 months to utilise the visa. Now if the visa sponsor wants to cancel the visa during this validity period, the authorities have to make sure that the visa holder will not come to this country, so they take the return ticket for the safer side.. coz they can cancel this visa in their system but not in the overseas system of any country ..! how come the authorities of the other airports will know that this visa has been cancelled or not.. so if the visa holder comes to Qatar even after the cancellation of the visa, they send him back on the ticket which they took from the visa sponsor.. i hope ya understand this.. secondly, if the visa holder will not come to Qatar during this validity period, that ticket is refundable...so no worries... these rules are called Security measures..

it is not only for the family visa. same rule for the work visa. once the employee has been issued a work visa, and the company wants to cancel his visa (before the employee is coming to qatar), company has to cover the fee of one way ticket from qatar to his country of origin based on the local airways fare, i.s. Qatar Airways ticket price. This is the rule.

Is QDC not enough of a money-making rip-off overpriced profittable business for them? How sad does it get when you need a ficticious return ticket for somebody who did not travel from the origin in the first place??? This is just the joke of the day!!!

You're right my friend,it is in fact a way for this rubbish, overpriced, overrated state subsidized airline to squeeze as much as they can from expats in whatever way they can...
