Visa by credit card only?

As I returned to Doha from a visa run on Friday, I was requested to pay for the tourist visa (I'm a European Union citizen) by credit card. I offered cash payment, but the immigration officer insisted on credit card.

Fortunately, I have a credit card - but what about those who don't? My wife, for example, will come back to Qatar on a new tourist visa on 31 January. How is she - and others without credit cards - supposed to pay for their visas?

I forgot to ask the immigration officer about this. Maybe someone on the forum has the answer.

Thanks in advance.

I think I will go for Al Maha service, to avoid headaches. I have tried them myself earlier, and they're quite good.

Thank you all for the kind advice.

You can pay for the visa in advance for your wife by going to the Al Maha desk at the airport. Think you have to book meet and greet too though. Think it costs 100QR. You need your wifes flights details and passport number.

You can get a QNB special credit card for the amount which you want to spend from a counter nearby emigration .They will charge 40QR as service charge. You can charge the credit later and use it for two years; But only in gov offices in Qatar.

Unfortunately, this is the system here and they will not take cash.
