Hi everyone!
I would like to ask some help or information about visa requirements and processing. I'd like to bring my husband and my son who is 4 yrs. old here in qatar. What type of visa can I get for my husband and my son? Can I get a residence permit for my husband and also for my son? What are the requirements? What are the procedures or guidelines?
your help is very much appreciated> thanks

Hullo, sorry there, I haven't checked this thread for a while.

Yes, you need to go to the labour department on C ring road - one stop before Ramada signals (coming from the airport). Pick up a form, take it to a typist in a souq and get it typed up. Then return to the labour department. Take all documents you can possibly think of, such as copies of birth certificates, photos, passports and so on. (What is actually needed seems to vary). Photocopies, scanned documents and faxes are generally acceptable. You will get a six month family visa, which can later be changed into a residence visa when they are here and have had their health checks done.

I have also posted more information about visas here: http://qatarvisitor.blogspot.com/2006/10/qatar-visas.html .

Good luck, and don't let the bureaucrats get you down!

Thanks for the info.I already have my working visa and got my QID recently. Can I get them a family visa now? What agency or office I"ll go for the processing? Somebody told me that I will go to Labor Dept. in C ring road (near American Hospital) for submission of documents. How many months they will give for a family visa? Is it true that, they only give 6 months for a family visa? Can i convert hte family visa to residence permits. Thank you so much and I really need your information and advice.

As long as your income is above a certain level - I believe it is 4000 riyals - you can sponsor your son and husband. Unless your company is organising it, you normally have to come to the country first and obtain your residence visa first - this can take two months. It is then relatively easy to obtain a family visa for your family - it'll probably take you about ten days. Bring things like birth certificates, photographs, and anything else you an think of (photocopies are usually acceptable) as the requirements seems to vary upon the official. Residence permits will then be obtained after they are in the country. I believe they can also come in under a tourist visa whenever they want (depending on your nationality), but they would then have to leave the country and return once a month. I've got more details on my blog www.qatarvisitor.blogspot.com under visas.
