Work permit with two companies in Qatar?

Hi,

I am an Indian national and I have been offered a position with a company in Qatar which is a small time company and they are currently offering about QAR 19K per month + Sales compensation.

Now, there is another company in Qatar which is one of the largest technology companies in Qatar and are known for their quality work. I have been talking to them as well and we have had some interviews.

Honestly, I am interested in joining the second company (the largest technology company) over the first one. However, incase this company does not make an offer, atleast I should be able to join the small company as I already have the offer from them.

Now the problem is - the small company has already made me an offer and is now asking for my Passport and other documents. I have not heard from the second large company so far but I am confident they will make me an offer in time - say by 2nd week of August.

So can I submit my documents to the one which has already made me an offer and let them proceed with the work permit? What is at the same time I receive an offer from this second company and I am interested in taking that forward?

Will there be a problem if two companies apply for my work permit? and if I can say no to one inorder to accept the other's offer.

Please advise on suitable solutions.

my friend note that a bird at hand is worth more than a million in the bush, how are you sure the small company as you said is not reading this discussion?

For a company to offer you a QR 19,000.00 per month salary, is NOT a small company after all.

You are lucky to be offered as such. Honestly, you have a better chance to grow faster in a small company than a big one wherein everything is already structured.

The challenges are far better in small company than the one which is already established.

The company that will give you the visa first should be the company that you will work with simply because there is no way that you can have two visas.

When the second company will apply you a visa, which if you already had, their application will be rejected, so, you can not have 2 working visas.

Just don't go by the size of the company. Even very large companies can be terrible inside. I know of one such company which is very poorly managed. As other QL readers have stated a company offering 19K cannot be small. Follow the proverb "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush."

So what is the solution here? If I ask them to proceed they will get a permit approved from MOI in my name. Post this if I ask them to cancel, the visa will remain as it is for 3 months - and by this time I will not be able to apply through the second company. - please correct me if I am wrong?!

Alternatives / suggestions are welcomed.

Why would they cancel the visa? They know from the very minute u tell them to cancel visa that you are upto something , in that case you will have to wait for the visa to expire which is usually 3 months as per my knowledge

What if the visa is already processed by the first company. Once I tell them to cancel the already processed visa, will it affect my getting visa again by the second company as my records will be reflecting in the database.

Good question! but i don't think u can do tht once work permit is done, but it would be better if u make up an excuse for the small Co. saying tht ur passport is sent for rectification n will get it after few weeks, wait for the other Co. to send u an offer ( hopefully should not take long ) and then reject the small one.

Only one work permit processing at a time, the first company applies for your visa , second company can only do this only if the previous company cancels the request .
