Work for Visa for Al Jazeera English - Advice Urgently Needed!

Dear Friends,

I have signed a contract with Al Jazeera Eng. 5 months ago but I am still waiting for the processing of my work visa!

I have been told by AJE External Affairs dep. that the status of my work visa is still on "hold"! I am a German citizen with an Arab background and I submitted last May a letter of good conduct together with police clearance!

Should I keep waiting and hoping that I will eventually get the work visa? Or should I consider this matter done and accept the fact that I will never get the work visa? Also, what could be the reasons for such a long delay? Could my employer (AJE) be behind the delay as they do not want to recruit more employees at the moment and to cover it up put the blame on CID or the Interior Ministry?
I am really puzzled what to do now esp. that I really want to work in Qatar since my fiancé lives and works there!

I would really appreciate any help or advice regarding my situation!
Thanks.

I really don't think that AJE is behind the work visa delay. AJE external affairs has no control over visa approvals. They submit the forms to the government and wait for a response.

The reason why they are not informing you of anything is because external affairs hasn't gotten an approval or rejection from the Qatari immigration...so they cannot give you an answer if they don't have an answer to give. Make sense?

Did you confirm that external affairs submitted your paperwork to immigration?

In Qatar things take time, and patience is a vertue.

Don't expect anything soon. If you have an arab background...even though you are German, your visa will take time or I regret to tell you that you might not get it. I heard of a situation similar to yours at Al Jazeera English and this particular persons visa didn't get approved. Just pray really hard :)

I am really starting to believe that AJE is behind the work visa delay!

I also heard from friends that AJE is reorganizing itself and things are put on a hold regarding the recruiting process. But why would they not inform me about a work visa rejection or delay?

Yup buddy, I'm afraid it is true.. the process took so long because of the CID clerance. I am working in Al-Jazeera.. but lucky for me, my visa cleared fast. Maybe it is different depending on the nationality and background.

We've got few people here given a 2 weeks noticed when the company found out that they got no CID clearance.. so i would say you are still lucky that you are left to wait...than them who have started working here for more than a year, then given a 2 week notice to leave.. cruel world..

Im informed by some friends that Aljazeera is now on going for some internal reorganization and they are currently freeze hiring. I dont say that they are the reason but I just heard the news and might answer your question.

My wife also sign a contract in other company and shes waiting almost a month now for her working permit.

Thanks guys for your replies. I would be interested to know if there are currently others like me waiting for more than 5 months for the work visa and are reading this post!

It is shocking to see some people get the work visa in one week and others in 6 months...

have some patience.

It is always like this with most companies.

It is not the fault of the employer, the internal govermental processes are somehow slow.

I don't think they will reject your working visa unless there is a serious issue related to you.

Most of the new comers had faced the same.

Wish you good luck. I think you will enjoy living here. it is always good to change.

Salam
