Work Visa Approval

It is amazing that the Qatar government is doing its best (and doing a good job indeed), in automating or technologically advancing their public services such as the Visa issuance, permits, licenses, payments, ministry matters etc, by putting it available online. It definitely speeds up the things.

But the irony that I see is that, despite all these, why does the approval of work visa takes months? So bureaucracy still widely exists inside? And if you look at it, it will take months to get approval to apply but only takes 1 day to basically formalize and print the visa. Ironic isnt it? So is this automation a way to compensate the slow drag inside the ministry?

Even my company have no idea what's gonna happen inside (when you submit the request for approval) or when its gonna come out, nor there is any way for them to follow up (as there are series of signings to happen). So its basically like throwing something in the air, it disappears into oblivion and  one day, Wow, it's back on my desk!

I appreciate your inputs.

uhhhm dude, i think a residence permit is different from the topic above. You are entitled to have residence permit once you already have work visa and already entered qatar.

I did face the same problem, was unable to get residence permit. Where ever i applied for job, they were asking for residence permit first. Is there any possibility to get a residence permit?
