al khaliji gets behind education and entrepreneurship at QAD Enrichment Week
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, Al Khalij Commercial Bank (al khaliji) Q.S.C, Qatar's next generation bank, took part in Qatar Academy’s Enrichment Week. This engagement reflects a deep-rooted commitment to Qatar’s educational and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
A series of workshops and activities connecting Qatar Academy grade 9 and 10 students with inspirational tutors from all walks of life and expertise. Qatar Academy’s Enrichment Week took place from May 3 till May 7 at the school’s campus and offered attendees firsthand experience and knowledge from veterans, as well as, intensive business exercises.
al khaliji’s Head of Commercial Banking, Muqsit Hussain, addressed grade 10 students with an introductory presentation on the role of Small-to-Medium enterprises in shaping and driving the Qatari economy. Mr. Hussain highlighted the economy’s growth in anticipation of the World Cup 2022 and in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. He outlined the vision’s four pillars – economic, human, social and environmental development – and highlighted the role of SMEs’ as the backbone and innovative force across world economies.
In addition, Ms. Abeer Al Kalla, al khaliji’s Head of Public Relations and Communications took part in “Dragon Den”, a session where groups of grade 10 students simulated entrepreneur pitches of innovative products and services to “business angels” (representatives from the business world). Among the representatives was Ms. Al Kalla, who went over business cases presented by the groups and assessed their viability in real life, based on multiple factors.
“All the presentations were excellent and demonstrate creativity in the mindset of future generation. Promising talents and ideas we should capitalize on.” Said Ms. Al Kalla, “In al khaliji we are extremely pleased to work closely with the educational sector to drive students’ entrepreneurial spirit, this reflects a truly remarkable change and will positively impact Qatar’s economy in the future. ” she added.
Over the past few years, al khaliji has been active in supporting Qatar’s local community, youth and academic field. The bank has supported several forums that discussed the challenges and opportunities facing the regional SME sector such as Middle East SME Forums. al khaliji continuously conducts various banking lectures at universities where its professionals share with students their experiences in the banking industry.
