ANOC announces H.E Sheikh Joaan as sole candidate for Vice President position

The Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) announced President of Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), H.E. Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani as the sole nominee in elections for the position of Senior Vice President of ANOC for 2022-2026 term. The declaration was made on August 24, 2022.

Following the constitution of ANOC, all Continental Associations received a deadline until August 20, 2022 (60 days prior to the ANOC General Assembly). In the stated time limit, they have to confirm if their selected contender would be running for the position of Senior Vice President.

For the quadrennium 2022-2026, The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) validated that H.E. Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani, their candidate for Vice President of ANOC from Asia would indeed be standing for the Senior Vice President rank. 

Scheduled in Seoul, South Korea on October 19 till 21, 2022, voting for Senior Vice President will be conducted following the election of the President during the XXVI ANOC General Assembly.

Robin Mitchell, Current Acting President of ANOC and President of the Oceania National Olympic Committees (ONOC) is the only candidate standing for election for designation of President.

Mitchell is been serving as Acting President of ANOC since 2018. Last year in General Assembly organized at Crete, he confirmed of pursuing the role on a permanent basis.
