expat sentenced to jail

A Korean expat was sentenced to three years    in jail on charges of trespassing and robbery by a criminal court, the    local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday.

The man was accused of not only entering private property without permission, but also stealing some valuables.

He was also fined QR3,000 for ‘annoying’ the inmates of the house.

He will be deported from Qatar on completion of his sentence.

The Public Prosecution accused the man of    being intoxicated at the time he broke into the house and alleged that    he stole two watches - one made of gold and the other of diamond - a    mobile phone and car keys.

A woman who was present at the house during    the robbery said that she called her husband when she noticed the    stranger, who then caught the ‘thief’ and handed him over to the police.

The accused also admitted to his crimes in the court before being sentenced.
