The Gulf crisis, which has seen four neighbouring countries impose an illegal siege on Qatar for close to two years, seems to have eased a bit.

A few days ago, there were reports that ports in Abu Dhabi had eased the ban on third-party cargoes going to and from Qatar. Although the news was later denied, Dubai ports followed them in announcing similar ease of bans.

And now, Qatar’s Armed Forces, led by Said Al Khayarin, has taken part in a meeting of ground forces commanders from the GCC member-states in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, reported Gulf Times.

At the meeting, the commanders reportedly discussed means of enhancing the cooperation between ground forces of the GCC’s six member-states, reported The Daily Sabah.

It is understood that participants also reportedly discussed proposals for establishing a unified GCC military command.

Qatar took part in the Riyadh-hosted event despite an ongoing political crisis between it and three fellow GCC members.

Great news. I hope gradually the ice melts completely and all countries begin living in their same brotherly relations as before.
