Mercury keeps climbing steadily in Qatar, could go above 43C soon
After an extended period of unusually heavy rains and mild climate, the heat is finally coming back on in full blast.
The latest indication that things are about to get hotter was provided by the Qatar Met Department, who tweeted out saying the climate continues to be warmer than usual in the country, according to Gulf Times.
In a report, the weather office also spoke about the ‘strong possibility’ of above-average temperatures in most parts of the GCC countries until June.

The mercury levels have been going through the roof since last Saturday.
On April 8, the temperature crossed 40C for the first time, in South Qatar’s Abu Samra (42C) and Karana (40C).
Conditions are expected to remain similar or even go up in the coming days, thanks to high pressure in the upper atmospheric levels.
Meanwhile, The Peninsula reported that mercury levels in Qatar touched 43C on Tuesday.
The prevailing winds will be from an easterly to south-easterly direction, causing temperatures to continue rising noticeably above average. The temperature is expected to go between 35C to 45C in most areas, while the average maximum temperature in Doha for the month is 33C.
The bureau’s monthly weather prediction also showed a chance for some rainfall in the last week of April and first part of May — from April 21 to May 4.
Today, the weather will be hazy to start with, but will become hotter as the day progresses. There will also be some clouds and slight dust. Doha is expected to have a temperature between 39C and 27C, while in Al Wakrah and Messaeeid the temperature range between 36C and 26C.
Maximum temperature in Abu Samrah is expected to reach 42C, while minimum temperature would be 23C, thus making it both the hottest and coolest place in Qatar.
