From Nov 11, Indians cannot extend their stay in Qatar on visit visa beyond 30 days

Almost a year ago, Qatar made sweeping changes to its visa policy, allowing citizens from several countries to come to Qatar and get an on-arrival visa at the airport.

It led to a huge increase in the number of visitors to Qatar, with Indians making the most use of the facility.

But now, Qatar’s Ministry of Interior (MoI) has introduced a set of new conditions for Indian citizens looking to avail of Qatar's visa-free entry facility, reported Gulf Times.

The MoI, in its website, said Indians cannot extend their on-arrival visa beyond the initial 30-day period. They will also need to carry a credit card in their own name before arriving in the country. The new rules will come into effect on November 11.

Applicants for on-arrival visas should mandatorily present a valid credit card in their own name or the ‘paterfamilias’ (male head of the family).

The applicant should also have a confirmed hotel reservation as well as a confirmed return ticket. His or her passport should also have a validity of at least six months from the date of arrival.

Under the old system, an Indian citizen could get his/her on-arrival visa extended by a month for a total of 60 days. Also, no credit card was required to obtain the visa.

One user took to Twitter to request authorities to reconsider the decision.

I am a female and pregnant. My parents in law (aged approx. 70 years) are already scheduled to visit Qatar to take care of me. They are coming on 16 Nov and return back on 22 Dec. With the news of no-extension beyond 30 days, we are worried as their return ticket on 36th Day was already booked. Neither they have a credit card in their name, nor my husband (working in Qatar with QID) has a credit card. I do have credit card in my name, but i am a female and their daughter in law. What are our options to have them stay till 22 Dec as already scheduled and not rebook their tickets within 30 days.

I would appreciate your support a lot. Thank you.

I have a concern. What will be the rule regarding the hotel accommodation if a female visitor is coming to stay with her family (father or husband)?

Indians visiting to Qatar must have :

1. Confirmed return ticket

2. Hotel reservation confirmation

3. Valid Credit Card under the name or incase of family like wife then credit card of male head of the family

Note : Visa will only be granted to 30 days only which won't be extendable.

Hi Shirin, I think if already extended they can stay....

But now today they are no more accepting any request for extending the onarrival visa at immigration centers...

Alot of people queuing at moi to extend their family stay before 11th nov, but officials there are no more accepting any further extension request from the publishing of this rule.

Regards,

Zeya

I think the Subject and Body of the article is misleading, correct me if i am wrong. It should not be Qatar On-Visit Visa it should be On-Arrival visa which is the previous hotel visa. Visit visa (Family Visit Visa) is different and this rule is not for the Visit Visa.
