From Nov 11, Indians cannot extend their stay in Qatar on visit visa beyond 30 days
Almost a year ago, Qatar made sweeping changes to its visa policy, allowing citizens from several countries to come to Qatar and get an on-arrival visa at the airport.
It led to a huge increase in the number of visitors to Qatar, with Indians making the most use of the facility.
But now, Qatar’s Ministry of Interior (MoI) has introduced a set of new conditions for Indian citizens looking to avail of Qatar's visa-free entry facility, reported Gulf Times.
The MoI, in its website, said Indians cannot extend their on-arrival visa beyond the initial 30-day period. They will also need to carry a credit card in their own name before arriving in the country. The new rules will come into effect on November 11.
Applicants for on-arrival visas should mandatorily present a valid credit card in their own name or the ‘paterfamilias’ (male head of the family).
The applicant should also have a confirmed hotel reservation as well as a confirmed return ticket. His or her passport should also have a validity of at least six months from the date of arrival.
Under the old system, an Indian citizen could get his/her on-arrival visa extended by a month for a total of 60 days. Also, no credit card was required to obtain the visa.
One user took to Twitter to request authorities to reconsider the decision.
@MOI_QatarEn dear respected members, I humbly request you to rework on your decision of on arrival visa for Indians. Because of some goofy people others will suffer. My parents are expected to visit Qatar next month & this decision brought me into tears.
Can't we book hotels online and cancel later after relatives/ friends arrive as many hotels are offering free cancellation
my friend will come 26.Nov.18 to qatar on arrival visa, but he is stay in my room dont book any hotels, pls let me know its possible
I am a female and pregnant. My parents in law (aged approx. 70 years) are already scheduled to visit Qatar to take care of me. They are coming on 16 Nov and return back on 22 Dec. With the news of no-extension beyond 30 days, we are worried as their return ticket on 36th Day was already booked. Neither they have a credit card in their name, nor my husband (working in Qatar with QID) has a credit card. I do have credit card in my name, but i am a female and their daughter in law. What are our options to have them stay till 22 Dec as already scheduled and not rebook their tickets within 30 days.
I would appreciate your support a lot. Thank you.
They should not stick to here only ........ ........... ...........
I have a concern. What will be the rule regarding the hotel accommodation if a female visitor is coming to stay with her family (father or husband)?
Indians visiting to Qatar must have :
1. Confirmed return ticket
2. Hotel reservation confirmation
3. Valid Credit Card under the name or incase of family like wife then credit card of male head of the family
Note : Visa will only be granted to 30 days only which won't be extendable.
I would like to bring my wife and son next month, but my wife don't have credit card. How can she come on on-arrival visa? If she present a copy of my credit card will they accept.
Simply, some people abuse the privilege.
Qatar should resume this old facilities till Fifa world cup. Think twice and try to resume it.
IF ANY FAMILY MEMBER HAS A CREDIT CARD, JUST ASK THE BANK TO ISSUE SUPPLEMENTARY CARD FOR THE PERSON WHO WANTS TO TRAVEL. EASY FIX FOR CREDIT CARD ISSUE. NOT ALL BANKS WILL ISSUE CARD FOR FREE SO CHECK WITH YOUR CREDIT CARD PROVIDER.
I stay with my family in qatar. My son studies in India and visits us once in 6 months. When he visits Qatar, he stays with us. He does not have a credit Card of his own . How can he come on on-arrival visa? Can he present a copy of my Credit card
Hi Shirin, I think if already extended they can stay....
But now today they are no more accepting any request for extending the onarrival visa at immigration centers...
Alot of people queuing at moi to extend their family stay before 11th nov, but officials there are no more accepting any further extension request from the publishing of this rule.
Regards,
Zeya
Dear Sanfarthan33: Tell him to come till day after tomorrow else he need to book Hotal to enter Qatar ( for on Arrival Visa as per this article)
He need credit card in his name not your credit card if he comes after 10-nov ( for on Arrival Visa as per this article)
What about them,Those who have already extended their visa?
I came to qatar on 1st nov and extended my visa. It is valid till 31st dec?
Can I stay here for 60 days? Or should I exit?
I agree with Priyanka becoz of some goofy people we are suffering, even I was planning to bring my daughter and wife on arrival visa for 2 months, even I request to help us to bring my family since my daughter has born I am just seeing my daughter in video call , due to some situation I could not go to india , we request male above 20 please apply this ruel , and senior citizen and children to certain age please approve them on arrival visa we will be thankfull to you ministry of Qatar
I think the Subject and Body of the article is misleading, correct me if i am wrong. It should not be Qatar On-Visit Visa it should be On-Arrival visa which is the previous hotel visa. Visit visa (Family Visit Visa) is different and this rule is not for the Visit Visa.
