Qatar’s buttermilk tap that has not gone dry once in 40 years…
Helping people who are less fortunate than themselves is almost second nature to many Qataris and here is another shining example for it.
Sheikh Ghanem bin Ali Al Thani, who owns the Al Maha Diary, operates a charity buttermilk tap outside his mansion. The facility, which has been in operation for 40 years, serves people who are in need and has not gone dry once in 40 years, reports Qatar Tribune.
The tap, which offers people both fresh buttermilk and cold water, is situated bang opposite the Radisson Blu hotel (Ramada) and operates between 7.30am and 3pm.
Every day, at dawn, around 2,000ltrs of fresh milk is brought to the mansion and buttermilk is prepared. It is then put up for public consumption free of charge.
Sheikh Ghanem is also known to distribute butter and other dairy products free of charge to the public during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Three cheers to another of Qatar’s kind souls.
