Legal action has been taken against a supermarket in Al Sadd for violating regulations by storing food items in a workers' housing unit, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment said.

The violation was detected by inspectors from the health inspection section in the Municipal Control Department at Doha Municipality.

A team of inspectors conducted a search at the workers’ accommodation following a complaint that the place was being used to store food products in unhygienic conditions.

The place lacked basic hygiene requirements as well as adequate ventilation. Food items beyond their expiry date were also found at the store and seized accordingly.

A violation report was issued for flouting Law No 8 of 1990 on the Regulation of Human Food Control.
