Tour of Qatar 2017 cancelled
In a surprising turn of events, it has been learnt that the 2017 Tour of Qatar will no longer be taking place in Doha.
According to the Union Cycliste Internationale which is cycling’s governing body, the reason cited for cancelling the event is that there have been problems in drawing financial sponsorship for the cycling event in Qatar.
Both the men’s and the women’s events that were scheduled to take place from February 6, 2017 up to February 10, 2017 have been cancelled by organizers of the race. The last two years saw the race being won by Mark Cavendish, the British sprinter.
The men’s cycling event was seen as a good warm up to the Belgian Classics for those cyclists that promote one-day riding, but with the Tour of Qatar being cancelled, these cyclists will have to hold their warm up somewhere else.

agree with Brite, concerns of poor fan turnout were also marked in the news I believe..
Erm .. Is it really surprising.. The event didn't garner any positive publicity -
