Al Fakhoora Director on way back to Qatar

Al Fakhoora's Director, Farooq Burney is safe and on his way back to Qatar. Burney was onboard the Turkish ship Mavi Marmora when it was attacked by Israeli commandos early on Monday morning. There had been no contact with Burney since Sunday night. He was the only member of the Qatari community to be part of the humanitarian flotilla trying to break the siege of Gaza and had been intending to deliver computers to universities in Gaza on behalf of Al Fakhoora.

Jacqueline O'Rourke, Chairperson of Al Fakhoora said, "We are all relieved to hear the news that our Director, Farooq Burney, is safe and will soon be back in Doha. It has been an extremely worrying few days for us and Farooq's family with no news. I have finally spoken to Farooq a little while ago and he is enroute to Istanbul where he will be received by the Qatari Embassy officials".

"We have been horrified at the senseless and brutal attack on the Freedom Flotilla and add our voices to the outrage expressed by the international community. At least 9 individuals lost their lives trying to uphold universal principles of human rights and freedom. We will honor their memories by continuing their work. "

Al Fakhoora is calling for a swift, impartial and independent investigation in support of the appeal of the UN Security Council into the Flotilla raid and killing of at least nine civilians with full powers to demand all evidence and interviews of witnesses. It requests immediate information be released about the whereabouts and well-being of those on board ships in Israel's custody and the immediate release of detained individuals. They should be released unconditionally.

Al Fakhoora appeals for an end to the brutal and inhumane blockade policy that led citizens of the world to take action in order to break the crippling isolation of Palestinians living in Gaza. Governments must insist that forthcoming ships headed to Gaza are allowed to land with no interference from the Israeli authorities, who have promised to use even greater force.

Al Fakhoora was established under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Mozah and is part of an international movement that supports student advocacy to raise awareness of the plight of students in Gaza. It has committed to providing 100 scholarships a year for 10 years for Palestinian students in post secondary education in Gaza and is working with various international agencies including The United Nations Development Program and the Islamic Development Bank to rehabilitate universities in Gaza, improve the quality of education, provide psychosocial counseling to students, and deliver prosthetics to youth in need. pretending that that's the way they think, then think of a strategy that will surpass or at least equal their strategy.

Everybody knows why Israel is doing it (and who is backing him), and yet the other don't learn the real issue! I'm really surprise! Save me the rhetoric of such imbalance confrontations!

at the end I want to add that we respect the American people, we cannot ignore the big historical legacy of freedom and democracy they have. they still the symbol of freedom in the new world. I trust the change will come someday, but unfortunately, not in Obama's time as expected, the leader of change...!!

Israel will keep on doing the out-law things as long as it's supported by USA, who said that Israel has the right to attach the ship even before it reached Gaza in the international sea, and killing the un-armored volunteers in cold blood ...!!

I don't blame only Israel, cause you cannot blame the spoiled boy of his bad acts, you should blame the father (USA). which always uses VETO for the benefit of Israel irrespective.

the Question is WHY USA is helping Israel, which even do not respect them. WHY USA is paying for the Israeli citizen more than what's being paid for the American citizen,.. isn't that strange, or it's just stupidity,..!!

I really...really recommend you to read;

Jewish holly book name as The Torah. It is otherwise known as the Old Testament, or known as The Old Testament

The Tanach, which is made up of the Torah, the Nevi'im and the Ketuvim. The Tanach is the Old Testament which is the first part of the Bible.

And then there is the Talmud which is the oral law.

Read a lot history ...search alot the behaviour of Jewish...and you can imagine how the Israel think.

Your 'what if' statement has been use by Israel from long long decade ago...same old song they use when attacking hospital and school in Palestine

but what about the other side's view? Does that make sense to you?

Are you in the ship? Who guarantee who?

Yes there is proof. The Turkish authorities inspected the ship completely before it left its port and ensured it to be free of any weaponry. Even the weapons that the Israeli pirates supposedly confiscated included only hammers, kitchen knifes and spanners.

Read these accounts of people on board also.

The language of your comments (the humanitarian workers are savages?) and your ignorance of the facts (they were perfectly on legal grounds in international waters whether you like it or not) point to an inhuman attitude in you to justify starvation of a million and a half civilians in Gaza for not doing what Israel wants it to do. But if Israel looks back at its own history and how the Exodus raid of 1947 paved way for its own creation, it can see for itself in the near future the doom it has brought about for itself.

Just a little question...is sending medicine deserve to be ambush with a war ship?

Is that make sense for you?

do you think anyone in both sides will say something that will harm their side? All declarations will be to support one's agenda! No commando will ever betray their colleague and no activist will side with the Israeli! Do we expect a surprise? IMHO only!

I really wonder what would be the world response, the UN Security Council and all those (unscrupulous) supporters of Israel today; if

Turkey/Iran/SaudiArabia had attacked and killed 1 british/US national in international waters ?

there are blind and blackhearted people; they have no respect for lives and ideologies.

Those who brutally murdered by isreali army are SHAHEED in our eyes and for ALLAH.

SHAME on ISRAEL and ITS SUPPORTERS

I think some of you should go back to history and see what really happen in the past. It takes great guts to be part of something like this, and for you Legal Pad to say that its a "whatever humanitarian volunteers", they are true heroes to sacrifices their lives to help others.... of course someone like you would never know because you are not only selfish but also down talking those who do actually try and help others....shame on you!!!

If they were delivering rockets , how come the Israeli government have released all who were on board without charges?!!

And it’s not like the Israelis care for any international pressure.

There are always two sides , but the question is for how long...

whether you like it or not, with the current birth rate of surrounding countries, even if you continue to live in forts or undergrounds, they gonna get you ! hide or seek !

I'm sorry for the loss of your citizens, unfortunantly nobody order them to volunteer, the boarding party got their butts wip and KICK and had no other tchoice to defend themselves from the savagery oF the so called

"humanitarian VOLUNTEERS".

They should stay at home or use other means in a legal way to enter those international waters.

Just remenber that their is two sides of the coin when it comes to true facts.

of course he was delivering rockets and grenades but in a cyber form, The US delivers artilleries and jet fighters to Zionists while the Arabs deliver cyberweapons.

Legal pad has a mouth full of rubbish and a mind full of garbage

When you have that kind of suspision then you are insulting my dignity because I'm from Indonesia and there's

Indonesian citizen dead on the ship because of the craziness of Israeli. Our volunteer went there for humanitarian matters and you have to give respect for those people on the boat. Read first the history and don't act like the stupid Bush-boy.

Why don't you insult your military general back in your country that selling gun to the guerilla whose fighting for a better life.

Do we have proof that he was only delivering only computers and not Rockets with the whole purpose of killing ISRAELIS? lets check the shipping manifesto.
