Interesting responses in the comments section.

A free press underpins transparancy, democracy and truth but it doesn't get it right all the time. However, any government that goes after a newspaper just proves it has something to hide.

It just proves that Bahrain(and by extension ths Gulf culture) does not understand the concept of freedom of expression. This will never get to court and if it does, by some miricle, then it will fail.

I hope the Bahraini Dictators suffer a worldwide embarrassment and are unmasked just like Mubarak and Ali were.

Traitors of their own people! They hire foreigners from a particular religious sect only, for the police and army and don't allow their own citizens to occupy those posts.

Bahrain deserves to organize the F1, as much as Syria, Yemen and Libya do!

Hypocrites, they are the main reason for the stagnation of the Arab civilization!

Newpapers do often use "disinformation" to sell stories. However, as a fan of Robert Fisk's articles, I am not surprised that this has happened. Fisk is passionate about the region and what goes on there.

I hope that legal action is taken and that Fisk and the Independent are exonerated.

What's new?

The situation is so sad and will have disastrous consequences in the future.

Some of these dictators numb their people with wealth, removing their ability to perceive the need for personal growth!
