I am not a doctor, i am just a poor nurse. But i couldn't wish for someone to die! as i oathed to help save lives regardsless of his religion, race, age, sex, rich or poor, preist or criminal. etc. etc.

My political views, emotional attachment, religious beliefs are 3 different issues that need to set aside when there is in need to fullfill my duty & responsibilities as part of the medical team.

Let God judge him(Danish Cartoonist) alone. I would never wish for him to die even if he/she is my enemy. I would have wish that my God had open his heart to love & respect my dear Prophet(Mohd.)S.A.W.

As usual I'm late for the posts.....OH MY GOD.....can't believe this discussion is actually going on. Corne, I can understand the banging the head part....where did all the caring, compassion and respect for life go to. But seriously, I just got back home after handling a serious Road traffic Accident and it still hurts that people have to die so needlessly (and that was an accident). If you are a doctor....act like one.....life comes first, second and always on the list. People look to us for health.......so let us not rejoice in suffering. Don't discriminate. If you want to be emotionally detached from your patients, thats your call(and how your patients deal with it)......but treat every life equally, mother, son or enemy.....Peace all.

dear oryx-- our job is to end human suffering and it involves brutal killing of bacteria,viruses,parasites etc ,and we really rejoice these killings daily. dont expect me to forgive these creatures,or prevent me from rejoicing the killing. similarly the danish cartoonist was a devil, he did spread lot of hatred and fire through his cheap work, and it was good he was killed. dont expect me to forgive him(and also forgive the disease causing bacteria and viruses). the followers of devil are devils(and we have lots here)

oryx,scarlet,jauntie--- i missed your post regarding the ex-NHS guy. i never meant that the nhs guy are not intelligent, i meant that i was proud that i escaped the racial abuse by not working there. the indiscrimnate, unprovoked racial abuse against asian and other non european doctors is one of the leading reason why doctors with brilliant careers are hijacked easily by extremist elements there.

What is so outrageous is how you seem to celebrate and be happy about his death-and the violent way he did die.

The fact that you are a doctor and at the same time can be so happy that someone could die in such a horrible way is deeply disturbing. Don't you see enough suffering in your line of work? How could you ever wish it upon another?

As a forensic scientist, I see such brutal and horrendous crimes on a daily basis and no matter who the victim is I could never wish it upon anyone.

You are not in the position to judge and wish death on others- only God can.

i did not insult any religion and i did not want to speak about islam, but it was the sarcastic comment of oryx(....religion of peace)which prompted me to clarify the point. i dont speak for all muslim, nor do i use my religion as my shield. some people were so much offended by the news of the cartoonist's death, that from the very beginning of the post the esteemed forum members dragged my religion and my profession into the discussion, accused me of discrimination, accused me of creating trouble and finally branded me as a terrorist. i once again apologise to all the members of the forum who had been offended by my post. why not arrange a condolence meeting for the dead cartoonist?

cornelian-- if my son or my mother is sick and in pain, i can feel the pain myself because i am emotionally attached with them. being compassionate and being caring for your patient is something different from being emotionally attached as in the first case. i never said that i am not compassionate or caring for my patients. sometime treatment of patients with whom you are emotionally attached becomes difficult. but as a medical student, i would suggest you to get emotionally involved with your patients. you should be able to feel the pain and discomfort of your patient, it will help you become a good clinician. i know my posts give you a terrible headache, but please dont bang your head. once again my apologies for all the people offended by my posts. lets end this thread here.

Maybe when he was young, him and his family went on a vacation to Denmark and forced him to eat their cheese and hated it so he has come back with vengance against Denmark...he says it's because of the cartoons but it's subconsiously because of the cheese! And he's always wanted to be a doctor but his parents and professors kept discouraging him...they said he has limited abilities...but he was "special"...that's why they let him ride the small bus everday to school. :D

And about the cartoons, I would rather not get into it...BUT...I just wanted to say that we must remember that religion is viewed differently by different cultures...Muslims view Islam not as just a religion but as an entire lifestyle (that doesn't mean that they actually follow it). Making fun of the Prophet (PBUH) meant so much because it's not "freedom of speech" but considered as a personal insult.
