Crazy Couple
Now this is what I would call height of stupidity...
Gunmen who kidnapped two young Swiss tourists in a volatile southwestern Pakistani province have reportedly taken them to a notorious Taliban-al-Qaeda tribal zone.
The Swiss couple, who were travelling across Pakistan in a camper van, were kidnapped by gunmen on Friday in the sparsely populated Balochistan region, which borders both Iran and Afghanistan.
“We have information the Swiss couple have been shifted to the tribal areas [on the Afghan border]," Balochistan’s provincial home secretary Zafarullah Baloch told the AFP news agency on Monday.
The semi-autonomous region has been dubbed by Washington the most dangerous place on Earth and a global headquarters of al-Qaeda.
Baloch said the couple had probably been transferred to the southwestern town of Zhob, but did not specify where precisely they were likely to be now.
He said searches would continue in Balochistan and that it was still unclear whether the couple had been kidnapped by criminals or militants.
Some 500 police and paramilitary soldiers are currently searching for the Swiss couple, who are reportedly both trained police officers from canton Bern, although one is no longer an active-duty officer.
“We have interviewed leaders, tribal chiefs and police at road blocks… but in vain,” Sohail Ur Rehman, a leader from the Loralai district where they were snatched, told the French-Swiss regional 24Heures newspaper.
Road trip
The Swiss couple were reportedly returning to Switzerland in their blue VW camper van after a stay in India.
They entered Pakistan’s Balochistan province on Friday afternoon driving westwards from neighbouring Punjab. When they reached Loralai, about 150 kilometres north of Quetta, the capital of the province, they were given a police escort, local Pakistan officials have said.
However, once they reached its outskirts, beyond the area under police jurisdiction, they were left without security.
Pakistani officials said the missing couple's van was later found abandoned in woodlands in the Killi Nigah area. There was no sign of any blood or struggle. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the kidnapping nor has any ransom demand been made.
The kidnapping is the first such incident involving Swiss citizens in Pakistan, and authorities in Switzerland have set up a task force combining police and intelligence services to coordinate the case. The foreign ministry said it had contacted the local authorities in Pakistan as well as the victims’ families in Switzerland.
Dangerous destinations
Since 2008, Switzerland has advised against non-essential travel to Pakistan, citing risks including the threat of kidnapping.
Balochistan is a particularly dangerous region in Pakistan. It is the scene of a low-level separatist insurgency, and criminal gangs involved in the kidnapping for ransom trade are common.
“Foreigners should never travel alone in the districts of south Punjab, central Sindh, Balochistan or Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” Pietro Tilli, a security advisor to foreign aid workers and diplomats in Pakistan, told the Zurich-based Tages-Anzeiger newspaper. “These are not safe areas as lots of criminal and militant Islamic groups train there.”
Abductions for ransom have become a lucrative business in Pakistan. Last month Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik told parliament that 15,365 incidents of kidnappings had taken place in the country in 2010.
Out of the total, 13,497 took place in Punjab, 1,293 in Sindh, 273 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 250 in Balochistan and 52 in Islamabad.
“Quicknappings”
Most kidnapping victims in the country are Pakistani.
“A new phenomenon is so-called ‘Quicknappings’,” said Tilli. “Middle-class Pakistanis are kidnapped and their families have to quickly find the ransom money, which ranges from $2,000-5,000.”
But foreign aid workers, diplomats and other foreigners have also been targeted. Foreign hostages included a Chinese engineer, a Polish oil worker and an American, John Solecki, who worked for the United Nations refugee agency and was released after two months in captivity.
A French tourist was held hostage for three months in Balochistan from May to August 2009, while travelling with two other French men, a woman and two children in a camper van from Quetta to Iran.
Officials in Pakistan and Afghanistan say criminal gangs account for many ransom plots, though they are known to work with militant groups like the Pakistani Taliban.
Last month US officials declared that files recovered from Osama bin Laden's Pakistan hide-out showed al-Qaeda was also focusing more on kidnapping to raise funds as the group faced a cash shortage.

Swiss abductions
Swiss tourists are seldom victims of abductions. At greater risk are business people, Swiss living abroad and staff of international organisations; most are eventually released.
December 2010: A 50-year-old businessman is abducted in Cuernavaca in Mexico. Although a ransom of SFr10,000 is paid by his family, he has not reappeared.
June 2010: A 71-year-old businessman, who had been abducted in the south of the Philippines, is freed by soldiers.
April 2010: Eight Red Cross workers, including one Swiss, are released after being held for a week in the Congo.
January 2010: Police in Colombia free a 32-year-old Swiss woman who had been held for a fortnight.
January 2009: A couple from Zurich and two other Europeans are abducted by an al-Qaida group in Mali. They are released three and six months later respectively.
January 2009: Three Red Cross workers, including one Swiss, are held by Islamic rebels on the Philippines island of Jolo. They are all released between April and July 2009.
July 2008: Swiss businessmen Max Göldi and Rachid Ramdani are held until 2010 by the Libyan authorities following the arrest of one of Moammar Gaddafi’s sons in Geneva.
October 2007: A Swiss filmmaker abducted in Haiti is released a week later after paying a ransom.
November 2005: A Swiss couple on holiday in Yemen are abducted by armed fighters who want the release of colleagues. The Swiss are freed after the intervention of local chieftains.
August 2003: Four Swiss tourists and ten other foreign hostages are released by Islamic Salafists in Mali after half a year.

Kareena, Did Quaid-e-azam made a Mistake, i don't think soo, My Great Grand Father Miagrated from Amritsar to Sialkot, and i am Proud that I have a Green Passport, and you know what "Altaf Hussain" said the same thing in India, that It was a mistake that Quaid-E-Azam made Pakistan, what happened with him, he had to apologize to the whole nation, any ways for a matter of fact he is not even a Pakistani........
Bottom line to all this is, If the Government is at fault, which i think it is then We the People are at Fault as well.... Why do me Vote the same Political Parties again and again, which have Cases on them for Corruption, be it PPP or PML-N. I lived in Karachi, for 28 years, did my High School from there, Lived near the British Consulate, and Political Parties are behind all this Mobile Snatching, Car Snatching, taking people for Ransom, the Target Killing going on in Karachi, Who are the elements behind that....????It is happening by the backing of Major Political Parties in Sindh, MQM, ANP, and PPP...
sam.... well if you found some one of 1890, must tell me, i will stop relying on books, and meet her/him to ask about history

ingenierodear did you ever tried to read PM?? go grab your inbox and read my PM :P
lol it was about kidnapping.. but later on it changed to pakistan only.. no india.. we are not discussing india here..
dear did you ever tried to read history?? go grab some books and read them.. so that you know about the history.. it was not given, we the indian subcontinent snatched it. they had no other way. the only difference between both leaders was that one wanted just free country and other wanted the seperate country+freedom. so both did their job.and when there was no choice. then they did it.
one was gay and the other was hypocrite. And through out the history Leaders never happen to be Gays or Hypocrite.
its about all three......lols
Errrmm...is this about Pakistan versus India or about people having been kidnapped?
i can undstand ur feeling 4 both :)
AD: i object...why? both were killed by there own country ppl... and both did well job. both were one of the best pilitical leaders of Asia
urs was the worse one and ours were worse and by the way it was not taken or given it was distributed thru proper planning by ur and our leaders along with E.I.C
hold on ingeniero, these both were arse holes, and thats why didn't live longer after partition.
ok Brit, i will as u n rizks are my buddies.. so i have to listen :(
Well looks like the swiss couple came prepared to get kidanpped and to get a few moments of publicity for being kidnapped in the terrorist infested region . They could have gone to Kashmir or Shimla instead
so our one was the best one.. @samat least he did a great job, he and Muhatima Gandhi fight against britian and then we took our seperate part.
we all luv rizks and we have agree to wt he wants:)
Can you people please quieten down .. Rizks has just sent his carrier pigeon with a message ...
a freedom fiter is who fits 4 the country nt for the position.
LP: i am saying about our freedom leader quaid e azam muhammad ali jinnah... not the leaders now.. they are not leaders..
no he was nt a muhajir and he was brot in by punjabis and sindhis into pakistan who r presently ruling the country and nt by pathans or muhajir
Yes Kareena, as per definition OBL was a Muhajir.
ahahahahahahahahaha
And all you non Mohajjirs, we too got a bad name.. Now India wont' even give us a visit visa to visit our ancestral home..
Hey Sam tell me something, was OBL a Mohajjir?
sam, yeah, "respected leaders." That's what I meant when I said, each country deserves the leaders it has. These "respected" leaders" are liars, corrupt, and should be shot on the spot.
u dnt need 2 apply for pasport u can cum to india anytime whenever u wnt to and can also bring along all other pakistani bro and sis
Sam: Muhammad Ali Jinnah
sam18550U are showing a rosy picture of your side, pretty inspired with bollywood?
being crazy is gud sumtimes ......lols
I must have left it behind.. QL has been crazy today.. :O(
respected leaders???????? :)
well i was expecting that... why you don't apply for their passport? and shift there. as u accept that you people did a mistake, so why you want to take revenge of other innocent people? why sindhi, punjabi and pathans are suffering because of mahajirs? why they destroyed our most beautiful and developed city?
Not that I didn't know that, brit. Where is your humor today?
I was referring to Alexander's wife..
LP: well at the time of seperation from india, this was decided by our respectable leader,, as these were the conditions on which tribal areas got affiliated with pakistan.
Rizks, it's a song from the Police bass player.
Shhh...britey !there are some serious discussion goin on ova here....:)Over and Out ! :)
My grand parents made a huge mistake and now we are paying the price of this mistake.. What did they do? Well in August 1947 my grand parents along with their huge clan chartered a plane and flew down to Karachi from Gujrat in India.. My dad was still in my granny's tummy that time.. So don't know whether he is a Pakistani since he was born on this land or an Indian since was concieved that side of the border..
Anyway, they made the mistake and we are paying the price now.. Even now I tell her, dadima why did you and dada decide to migrate? She says what to do, we thought we would be staying in heaven but how were to guess that it would end up a hell like this...
Is it the ball type ? :O)
i dont mind reading all of this.. this is an interesting discussion. to kareena just don't get tempted for any KFC in your main City.. JK in some part of my country does have the same situation as well.. I just hope and pray Inshaallah Peace will regain control.
Roxane ? :(i know only a deo wit tat name, which i use !
Kareena, I agree, what these people did is indeed the height of stupidity. Some people seem to think that "open mindedness and tolerance" makes them immune....obviously not the case at all. What bothers me most about this is, that those Swiss people are now creating problems and worry for others...very selfish and massively stupid.
Then i won't tel you about Roxane - who was a thing of real beauty !
ok thats good... that no one gonna complain..
'weaknesses'...its just weak - LP ! :(
ingeniero: I wonder what Sheikh Hamad would do, if another family would declare Al Wakra a tribal zone?
again ingeniero he has a statement saying that karachi people r suffering due to muhajirs. I knw that ur a muhajir so can u pls reply to this statement
We all know that you have weaknesses, Rizks.
LP: tribal areas are free.. no law enforcement, no taxes, no custom duty. only one govt. nominated political agent, who look after the problems/area. and internal they have jirga system. and this is also one of the reason, that our some areas are suffering becuase they want to control tribal areas. which is not possible.
LP,my history is as weak as ur one patched eye ! :(
yes im one to point out ths bt let me make myslf clear its nt me to convey that suggestion as i dnt agree to that.
nw if u ask me if we will take u all mohajirs bak to that i wld like 2 remind u only our bodies r sepereated but our soul still the samey we r nt different
Rizks, didn't you know, brit and I live forever. I was in Pakistan before Pakistan was Pakistan with Alexander of Macedonia. And he had no chance against the Indus River Valley civilization that was already 2500 years old when he became king.
So far noone has a problem with my post and no one is getting irriated.. As it is, the only people in this discussion are Indians and Pakistanis.. Secondly no one is forcing anyone to read this post or comment on it..
Don't worry - Rizks is a trained bodyguard and a 7th Dan Blackbelt in Origami. I guarantee that he will protect you!
Wrong! LP and I were old even then :O)
If I go to these places now, to meri arthi hi wapas aaygi..
I wont come back alive..
in 80's i guess most of them were young kids....:O)
sam: am not talking about the whole country.. but karachi citizens are suffering because of mahajirs.. well this is not pakistani page.. so the other QLiers will get irritate from our discussion.. that whether they are responsible or not.. but you need to check that out. and as kareena spent time there.. so surely she will know about that.
Pakistan needs a government. If the current government acknowledges that it has "no control over the tribal areas" it disqualifies itself. I don't know why the people accept such a weak leadership. Or is it that some benefit from it??
no worries britey !Now KurryNa wil u hold my hand plz ? :)
I am 36 years old.. In 80's I was a young kid..
Can you please volunteer to escort Kareena to these places and show her a good time.. I will donate towards the ticket :O)
For pointing out that.. So what should we Mohajjirs do? Go back from where we came from? Will you guys take us Mohajjir back?
Kareena sorry to ask you, wots your age now ? lol
we will pray your good days come back.. but help your self.. karachi ppl need to help themselves to bring the change
Is a lovely picnic spot and we used to there every year back in 1980's and 1990;s.. I would love to go there again..
i dnt thnk u will b able to do all this as u will b killed b4 that. It is the suggestion by ingeniero to kill all the muhajirs and the problem will b over. k74 can u hililte on this statement r muhajirs the cause for all the probs hapening in pakistan today.
Noori Jam Tamachi (Sindhi: نوري ڄام تماچي) is included in seven popular tragic romances from Sindh and Baluchistan.[1][2] The other six are Momal Rano, Umar Marvi, Sohni Mahiwal, LiLa Chanesar, Sassi Punnun and Dhaj, Ror Kumar commonly known as Seven Queens (Sindhi: ست مورميون) of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.[3] Heer Ranjha and Mirza Sahiba, including Sohni Mahiwal and Sassi Punnun are the four other tales from Punjab, narrated in Punjabi. These four include Sassi Punnun and Sohni Mahiwal again, as they are culturally included in both Punjabi and Sindhi traditions. These nine tragic romances from South Asia (all from now days Pakistan)have become part of the cultural identity of Pakistan.[4][5]Noori Jam Tamachi is in Sindhi language folk tale which happened in the region of Sindh, Pakistan. It is a tragic love story, similar to Romeo and Juliet, between King Jam Tamachi, belonging to Unar tribe, Noori, belonging to community of fishermen (Muhanas).
According to the legend, Noori was buried in the Kalri Lake. Today there is a mausoleum in the middle of the lake for Noori that is visited by hundreds of devotees daily.
The legend has been retold countless times, and is often presented as metaphor for divine love by Sufis. One of its most famous renderings is in Sindhi poetry by Shah Abdul Latif Bhita'i in his Shah Jo Risalo. The legend of Noori Jam Tamachi took place around the Kalri Lake in Pakistan, and to this day there is a shrine in the middle of the lake marking Noor's grave. Everyday hundreds of devotees visit the shrine.
Kareen, again blame the country for a week ago Dance Party Accident happened in defence karachi, where 7 people were shot dead on the spot, and some were belong to a well known polictical family. Ingeniero -- I agree with half of your comment about the Bast**d living in London.
AD since Kareena is specifically referring to Karachi, It was a safe place before the Muhajir/Sindhi issued started. Now look at it it has become a heaven for militants of all back grounds.
We used to take roadtrips during the summer break in Karachi.. Hyderabad, interior Sindh, Moenjodaro and another place which I cant' recall but they had the tomb of some Noori or something. a lovely place with a lake and all. .THen we used to go to overnight stays in farm houses outside the city, boating and fishing trips.. It was heaven.. So safe so secure so lovely.. I just want to be able to do all those things again..
Exaggerating though I wish I were.. Everything I said is 100 percent true..The incident I mentioned about a relative being shot or the ones who were rob, they are all true.. I am not making up anything..
Everyone in my family back in Karachi has lost a mobile or two and few articles of gold jewerly..> This is something very common.. Even stealing a car is not unusual..
A few years ago there was a bomb blast in a masjid, two sons of a distant relative were in that masjid while their father had gone to bring the car.. I think it happened right after jumma prayers..
These kind of things happen and since I have a huge, a massive family in Karachi, I happen to have first hand information about such incidents.. They are not hearsay.
the day that party finished.. there will be peace in karachi again. i don't know what they are waiting for? kill their boss abroad and remaining in karachi. and then check, karachi will be again one of the best city of pakistanprblem is between mahajir/sindhi, mahajir/punjabi, mahajor/pushtoon... mean the root is mahajir, mahajir khallass problems khallas
wtever the rest talk abt u on QL I knw very well that ur a pakistani and a gud nation lover too. u really hav the guts to admit the truth and to speak infornt of the mob.
talkng bad or hiliting the bad part of ur nation doesnt mean that u dnt luv ur nation but i will say people hu leave there nation and settled down in sum other part of the world thinking that there will b much safer r the person who dnt luv dere nation.
well done kareena keep up the gud work :)
As much as I sympathize and empathize with the plight of these Swiss tourists , cant help thinking that they are now holding their country to ransom. Pretty soon ,the kidnappers will come out with their demands and the onus will be on the swiss govt to negotiate and get them freed .Imagine the effort and money that will be spent!!!!
Hopefully a couple of Swiss Cows and a bag of Rum filled Sprungli will do the trick
MB KidU are 101% persent right, some groups just can't diagest the presence of oposition in city.
What do you expect of a govie system that helped shelter , hide and protect one of the most wanted people on God's green earth ( or used to be green ) yup u Osama Bin Laden! u guessed it right!. The thing is there is so much corruption and Islamic Radiclasim is pulling the country back in to the depth of the dark ages.
I am just reminiscing about good old days..How nice Karachi used to be and how I used to spend all my summer vacations there..
You're right.. I must have got the places mixed up :O)
Kareen, U tend to be too much exaggerated in your opinion, when it comes to any thing on this forum.
brit, I have some information that Russia wants territorial control in the Arctic since the melting ice offers opportunities for oil and transport. But they signed a treaty concerning Antarctica!
I think the Russians are trying to change that :O)
agree with brit... as always i do..
The safest 'country' is Antarctica BECAUSE THERE IS NO GOVERNMENT!
i don't say that pakistan is too much safe, and nothing happen in pakistan. it happen every where.. its time to help pakistan, try to make good image, so that it can become same safe place as it was some years back, or one should go for making the image more worse?also some day tell some thing good about your own country. which you love the most, where your respectable family members are living..
To the way it used to be.. When I was a kid, we used to go out at night and stay out till 2am and then come home without hving to look back all the time to check if someone is following you or not.. My mom used to always wear her gold bangles and earings (I am speaking of 1980's) We never imagined for a second that we could get robbed at gun point.. One of my cousins got married in 1988 and another in 1990.. Those two are the probably the last two safe marriage I have attended when all the women used to come covered in gold from head to toe... I think mid ninties things began to get bad.. This milleneum has been the worst so far.. Now all my relatives and family back home keep all their gold belongings in the bank locker.. Most of the brides wear artificial or gold plated jewrely on their wedding day due to the fear of getting robbed while leaving the marriage hall.. Some do wear gold but then when the function gets over, they remove the bride's jewerly and make her wear artificial jewerly while someoen else carries the real jewerly...
B.Ghettothank U for taking ur time to make new id.
Every country has the government it deserves. As you can see, in Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen, Libya and Syria people are about to take their rights. What about Pakistan?
Kareena, if U could remember Pakistan was as peaceful country as other of the 3rd world prior 9/11, and these are the policies of your favourite liberal Uncle Tom Commando (My arse) Musharaf and his successor NRO's produced team, who took the country to this level, where i personally hate to live.
A bit over melodramatic I think.. :O)
A friend of mine has recently travelled through Pakistan , India and on to Kathamandu without any issues or problems. Tourists travel through the region regularly.
You are right tht they should have taken more care - given the recent problems and not ventured into sparsely populated areas without company.
Let us hope and pray that they are returned safely.
Too much trouble is coming out of pakistan. It seems that Taliban have succeded in transforming that country in to a safe haven for world's most notorious criminals. a powerhouse for the exportation of terrorists and the spread of terrorsim sadly! i hope it all ends soon only then will Pakistan catch up with rest of the 21 first cenutry world.
mean it happen every where.. not only in pakistan. so why to highlight it that much
Pheww ! wat a relief.....:)
let it rest Kareena, it was in Urdu/Hindi
I take back my words.. Pakistan is not a warzone.. It is second to Switzerland.. The most peaceful and neutral country in the world.. Has absolutely no enemies at all.. It is the safest heaven on earth..
Rizks, don't worry. I am 'owned' by another sweet girl!
ingeniero, what is 'right' and what is 'wrong' manner? Your way? What about the others?
Don't be jealous baby.. U know you are the best..
why you are calling it war zone... LP: what i do now... :(((
Who is that Kairalee and what did he or she write?
'Thanks darling LP ...You are really sweeet.'.....Why i didnt become blind before reading tat ? :( sigh
ok i take my words back.. no personal attack... just we will go general...
OK, Rony.
LP - I was referring to Kairalee's whose comment was vulgar and personal. his comments and ID removed - thanks mod
That is precisely what I visit that warzone every year.. I have no other choice..My 85 year old grandma cannot travel to Qatar to see me. I have a huge family out there and that is the only reason I visit Karachi and will continue to do so..
Lol.. Aljazeera is bold enough to make problems in other arab nations.. they create rumors, who are responsible for situation in egypt, syria, maracco, behrain LP: i am not saying to tell lie, but at least don't expose it in such a wrong manner at least.
You are really sweeet.. You know I would never start personal attacks myself.. He started it..
so is it time for me to grab bobcorn n bebsi ? :(
I am not just talking about that Swiss kidnapping case, I am talking about situation in general.. Didn't you read what I wrote about what has happened with people I know.. First hand news.. I am not making up anything.
"and if you were patriotic, you wud never do such things". That's where the 'personal attack' started!
kareena: still am saying that it is because of you and me, we are not cooperating with each other.. don't blame country for these things. people are responsible, what is situation in karachi? ever citizen of karachi cooperated with police,? don't blame pakistani spent 24 years in pakistan, nothing happened to me, went every where.. and for your kind info, i was living in the most dangerous area according to you and your report, khyber pukhtoon khwa. spent time in northern areas, when situation was worse there.. nothing happend to me... so in my case i think Khyber pukhtoon khwa is much safe.
For supporting honestly and fighting against liars and hypocrites..
no personal attacks pls.
And control media are nothing short of hypocrites..
By the way, Al Jazeera of Qatar is pretty bold..
So in other words, you are a hypocrite and you propogate hypocrisy..
"always defend their country. hide news." Exactly, that's what they do: LIE! You can't ask Kareena to lie. But you may continue. It has been noted.
So Sad. The Immigrant population of Karachi (Muhajir) and the locals (Sindhi's) cannot live side by side..:(
it doesn't happen only in pakistan, the situation of robbery, kidnapping is same every where in the world, did you check the crime rate/statistics even of america. there it is more worse. doesn't mean people will stop and don't visit, they visit our nieghbours, what is situation there? did you checked?i object on your point that its stupidity that why they went to pakistan? problem in pakistan is that if a expat even fart there, they make a news of it. and start breaking news on TV, and then suddenly blame pakistan, militants etc...and if you were patriotic, you wud never do such things. i would call arabs patriotic in such case. they never let out a news against there country. always defend their country. hide news, so that ppl feel arab countries are safe, ppl living happy life. they have control on their media. but in our case we call it freedom of media, though we are spoiling our imagine, there is no difference between you and the anchors of tv on our tv channels.
Just last month, a distant relative of mine was going for a picnic with her husband and three children, the six month baby was sitting on her lap.. They happned to pass by some area where there was some sort of firing going on, a bullet came thru the window and passed thru the woman's head from one end and came out thru the another end.. She died instantly of course and the baby in her lap was soaked in blood.. Her two kids at the back and her husband almost fainted with shock..
Sad but true.. Things are really bad out there..
i love Swiss chocolates....:(Kareena darling, now how am i suppose to read tat long History ? :(
I am very much a Pakistani and I am very patriotic.. Whatever I have posted here is the truth and nothing but the truth.. I did not make up anything..
last year when I was in Karachi, my aunt and cousin were visiting me and they got robbed just outside the gate as they were about to ring the intercom. Two guys on motorbikes came behind them and took their gold bangles, mobiles and cash on gun point.. Considering we live in one of the poshest areas in Karachi (Defense phase 5).. My cousin was robbed at the signal, they showed her a gun and took her IPhone.. Another relative of mine lost his car to some guys and then later police found the car at some deserted place.. Nearly all my relatives and family back home have been robbed at least once in their lifetime.. Things are really bad out there.. God help us..
kareena: are you pakistani??? u sure about that? u need to check out your history, feeling like u are from the nieghbour country.. which never miss to publish such kinda news on different forums..
mayb coz the SWISS carries a tag,
is it for the Banks or Chocolates
I wish situations could change.. My country used to be so peaceful and safe.. Back in 1980's and early ninties.. I think it started deteriorating after 9/11..
One of my best friends, who is a Pakistani and now settled in SL, certainly echoes your sentiments when she travels to her homeland. She was relating to me how many women and men, young and old, tend to go about armed in certain provinces, which to me sounded scary! So yes I believe this couple are sadly paying a high price for their folly of seeking adventure and thrill in places they were warned not to visit.I do hope they are released unscathed though, and learn from their mistake!
Kareena they were on a Road trip Traveling through Pakistan on the way to Iran and then beyond and eventually back to Switzerland.
Miracles don't happen until Someone makes an Effort, and in this case We the People of Pakistan have to make an Effort, Pakistan would remain in the same situation if we stop giving suggestions in our Homes or in a Public Gathering and come out, Fight for it....
But I hate the government, I hate the situation.. I feel sorry for the state of affairs.. I just hope and pray that some miracle takes place..
Why in the world would anyone in their right sense go to a place like Pakistan when it is not their own country.... Crazy..
I go there every year because its my country and I have no choice..
Still each time I go, I chant prayers all the time.. Oh God, let me reach my destination safe and return to Qatar in one piece.
As soon as I land at Karachi airport, I start chanting prayers. Oh God, let me reach my grandma's house safe and sound with all my luggage intact.. once I reach the gate, I look behind to see if someone is following me from the airport to rob me at gun point.. Then only the drive and guard woudl take the car inside..
Each time I leave home to go out for shopping or eating, I would keep on praying non stop.. Oh God, please please I don't want to die here in a suicide bomb attack or open firing.. Oh God, please take me back to Doha safe and sound..
Why in the world would this Swiss couple decide to go to a place like Pakistan.. IN these days I mean..
