Egypt's Coptic pope flown to Ohio

CAIRO, Egypt - Egypt's Coptic Church says its pope has been flown to Cleveland for treatment after breaking his thigh in an accident. Pope Shenouda III, 84, fell in his bedroom on Monday evening.

The official Middle East News Agency says Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak ordered his government to provide a special ambulance plane for the patriarch.

In 2006 the pope had spinal surgery at the Cleveland Clinic and he also is known to have back problems.

He made several trips to the U.S. last year for back surgery.

I am a Muslim too, but do have all respect for him.

To answer your question, I am around but keeping my discreet distance between myself and QL. Have not been so happy around it lately. But that's alright, hiccups are expected every now and than..:)Hope all is going very well with you.

I still rely on this site in so many ways. Qatari and the team are doing more than an excellent job here.

Southland, dig up the past as much as you like. But next time I hope you use the right shovel to excavate something to enrich and relate to your topic discussed here.

I give no disrespect to a person of the 'cloth'. But obviously when $ is not an object anyone will go with the best.

KH - And speaking of $, we 'stole' no one, they just choose to go the the 'highest bidder' for their skills. No shame in that. Just like there is no shame in following those skills to have them performed on you.

Good morning dear. How are you? Long time no see.

Among other things that made me angry. I know the Patriarch is not a fan of visiting US for treatment. He is one of the most patriotic persons on earth. And although am a Muslim, I have extreme love and respect to him.

The Coptic community voted in support of his decision. He is a recognized Pope and he is well supported by the Vatican.

And let's dedicate ourselves to what the Greeks wrote so many years ago: to tame the savageness of man and make gentle the life of this world. Let us dedicate ourselves to that, and say a prayer for our country and for our people.

I don't think that's the case.. there are some extremely well equiped hospitals and qualified surgeons/doctors.

It seems to be the thing to do for the well off and those in power.

I wonder why!

I'm not impressed with the baseless comments from the ignorant!(these cannot be raised by well-cultured people ).Egypt never had issues with the US to begin with. And, anyone with health problems would rather visit “hell” for better health conditions, as long as money is secured.

You want to know why he goes there? because you do not have qualified and reliable surgeons and physicians and you end up stealing our qualified people
