Gadhafi's son killed in NATO airstrike

Will this make things better or worse in Libya? And will this help or hurt NATO and its allies, such as the UAE and Qatar? Should they be targeting Gadhafi at all?

Yes FathimaH--recent reports indicate that he is shelling more civilian targets today with renewed fierceness.

I agree with Fathimah, I'm terrified to think how Gaddafi will react after this. May god help Libiyans.

I truly fear for the people of Libya..this is no normal tyrant! And now he's going to be more vengeful than before which is frightening. But God is by far more powerful and mightier and I hope and pray he is soon vanquished without anymore innocents having to perish!

Well the tyrant is getting a taste of his own medicine which he fully deserves. If he can abuse, brutalize and murder his people then he deserves the same or worse treatment from his people or from the devil himself.

Obama knows that the public would not tolerate sending troops or plane - because of the involvements in Iraq and afghanistan.. He has however deployed "drones" - which in many cases are even more dangerous.

The allies are targeting gaddafi and his family - Whichever way you look at it , murder is murder. Whether carried out by Gaddafi or the Allies..

Yes frenchiemen, its not only USA as you said. Other countries are pushing hard too but a country like USA which always boasts of its human rights policies and has a big say in the UN resolves should ensure that they adhere to their initial mandate. Infact, I feel, this could not have happened if USA was not part of the strategy to shift targets to residential areas of gaddafi's family.

The whole world will cry 'Foul'but unfortunately, no one is there to police the Big Brother.

I agree with much of what you are saying Doha Knight, but I don't put the USA behind all of it. It's much more France, UK, Qatar and UAE that are pushing hard on this.

Some from so called "Human rights champion" country had argued on other thread that UN has authorised to protect civilians by "Any Means". By now it is clear that "Human right champions" using "ANY MEANS" to kill civilians and Gadhafis to save civilians. Though I am not a fan of Gadhafis or autocrat like him but what NATO is doing beyond UN mandate.

Human right violations have been rampant in many Arab countries like Bahrain, Syria and Yemen but the Big Brother is keeping the gun on NATO’s shoulders and targeting to get possession of Libya’s resources. Initially, the UN resolution was taken to stop Gaddafi’s air strikes on innocent civilians and the targets were, supposedly, the state tankers, ammunition stores and fighter aircrafts. As per today’s news, Gaddafi has lost one of his sons and grandsons in NATO’s attacks while he called out for a ceasefire and negotiation talks. It seems NATO has taken the centre-stage from the anti-Gaddafi rebels and is now trying to kill Gaddafi and his family. What a sinister and subtle change of strategy to create a political void in the country and take advantage of it.

It is time the Arab world sensed the opportunistic moves of America behind NATO’s cover to consolidate their holds on its Oil & Gas resources.

As a bystander I apprehend the battle will escalate further and many more countries would be involved or affected. More bloodshed, more lives lost and more wastage of wealth and energy.

Some say, whatever happens, happens for the better. Do you think whatever is happening in the Arab world or may happen in the future, is for the good of mankind?
