Indian federation is crumbling under the feet of Modi's Hinduvuta

Gujarat Congress leaders yesterday submitted a memorandum to President Pranab Mukherjee highlighting “atrocities” against Dalits in the state, and criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for “having the time to think about people of Balochistan” but turning a “blind eye towards the suffering of Dalits” in his home state.

Demanding a time-bound action against the perpetrators, the Gujarat Congress leaders also sought the President’s intervention in the matter.

The Congress leaders said they had apprised the President of the “rise in social terror in Gujarat, a phenomenon that has manifested over the past 18 years of BJP rule” in the state.

Over the last 13 years of BJP rule, the total number of atrocities against Dalits stands at 14,613.   (Gulf Times)

On the other hand, Modi's Hinduvuta has helped transferred the back burner "Freedom Movement of Kashmir" to the young Kashmiris, which has now become the front burner.

His childhood obession to promote the supremacy of Hindu religion, has created visible cracks in the India's federating units.

He has set aside the"Secular status of India", which was the core uniting force of various socio and religious communities like Christians, Muslims, Sikhs, Dalits, Kashmiris and others.

His disrespect to the wisdom of India's founding fathers, who gave India the most powerful uniting force in shape of secular constitution, is set to further weaken the country's unity, if BJP gets another electoral term in power.

India has an example in the neighborhood how a country gets ruined when religion becomes part of state policy.

brite,

The first part of your comment is welcome, and the other not, because it is like igniting the ego war between two individuals, instead of seeing the issue from the positive angle.

Yes, Mufti, you are correct to the core. That is what is happening with India, under the BJP govt, who is ignoring the wisdom of founding fathers of non religious India, thereby equalizing every one.

Though I agree that under Modi’s rule social fabric of India is getting tarnished but India being a democracy there is always a hope. You have always an option to bring another party to power. Religion based politics spells doom for countries.
