Pakistan Jumps 10 Spots on Attractive Outsourcing Countries Index.

Pakistan has been ranked at number 20 on the 2009 A.T. Kearney Global Services Location Index of the most attractive outsourcing destinations in the world. Pakistan went from 30th in 2007 to 20th in 2009 on the report released May 18th. There are plenty of companies in the Middle East, for instance, that outsource work to Pakistan. Even as concerns increase about Pakistan’s stability and the growing displaced population due to ongoing military operations with the Taliban, the country made a significant jump. Yet, cost is a huge motivator for many companies and is one reason that places like Pakistan score so highly. Countries are measured on 43 different attributes related to financial attractiveness, people and skills availability and business environment. In fact, the report says that as a region, the Middle East and North Africa are becoming more attractive in the ever-shifting geography of popular outsourcing places. Both enjoy large, well-educated populations and proximity to Europe. The index ranks the top 50 countries worldwide for locating outsourcing activities including IT services and support, contact centers and back-office support.

Lahori saheba bro nahe sis hain!

Lahori, I'm impressed with your passion for Pakistan. Though Tahir saheb did not mean to be offensive, but he did seem so, at least a little. Even I thought the same. It's more about how we express ourselves. Illiteracy and quality of education are some of the huge challenges faced by both Pakistan and India. We can compare the two on literary, quality of education, GDP and many other things, but why should we do that? Leave it to 'competent' politicians and media manipulators.

The point is: Pakistan jumped 10 spots on Attractive Outsourcing Countries Index!

Indeed, may Allah bless the upcoming future of Pakistan.

Perhaps the literacy rate may increase higher so that the youth can help boost the business economy in Pakistan why may make it a better place for foreign investment, and hopefully that shall solve everything.

You are right Baloch. Things are improving in Pakistan which is a positive side. It always takes time to set the institutions. The saying goes: Rome was not built in a day.

Things are improving. I agree there is a lack of educational facilities in some rural areas but the initiatives taken by government in the past few years have changed things immensely. I find 'literacy' term quite ambiguous as it does not embed the 'quality' dimension particularly when they say 100%.

Well at least some positive attributes are taking place, not to mention the political status :P
