Have any of you watched The Doha Debates on BBC World?

"The Doha Debates are Qatar’s unique forum for free speech in the Arab world. Each month invited speakers debate the hottest issues of the Arab and Islamic world in front of an audience who participate by asking questions."

Next Doha Debate - 12th and 13th April

Motion - ‘This House believes the Palestinians risk becoming their own worst enemy’

– looking at the divisions between Hamas and Fatah

Should be an interesting debate!

Was it a well-debated issue or did the debaters just posture for the camera and not get down to the nitty-gritty of the issue?  I've seen both.  If the issue is too hot (like the Prophet Mohammed cartoon drawings or the US in Iraq), then no true debating of ideas happens.  It's just people saying their piece for the camera.  If it's a not-so-hot topic (has oil blessed or cursed the Middle East?), then you get some good debating?

Which one was it?

Well that was my initial thought to...but knowing how sensitive people are on this issue, I thought I'd keep that one ot myself.

I hadn't realised it was already out.

Silly me - our TV was out of commission for a couple of days and I only saw the Debate advertised on BBC today.  Trust me to be in here with OLD news lol

But don't tell me the result, please .... I shall try to watch it on Saturday before I leave for the UK.

You COULD tell me who are on the debating teams (for and against the motion) ..... hmmm?
