To the op- My point is- You can't understand true love as long as you think of women as candies, think of women as equal to you to understand love.....

on here!

You all sound as though as it is a 'quotefest' and who can be so clever to outdo everybody else.

Yet half, no more than half do not have a *ucking clue what the post was about.

Platonic love by definition (not from google or wik) is; the love a man and a woman have for each other that is true love but because of circumstance or other outside influences never be acted upon, in other words no sex.

They decide to remain just friends.

As most of you are from countries that do allow those sorts of friendships why comment?

Yes in the West there are such things as supposed platonic friendships. However, the platonic friendship ends because they don't sleep together or it ends because they do and they then realise they should have just stayed friends.

Platonic friendships are nice in a Mills and Boon way but they don't work.

why we are avoiding mother's love to her child?

is it what we are talking about here?

why we should speak about love between man and woman, most of the time it is full of masks ,lies , and temporary emotions.

Soso Q...the term platonic has been interpreted in different ways and the original meaning has been altered widely..i too don't know the actual right meaning!!!..but the common meaning; platonic love is non-sexual love...love that doesn't include the physical expression...pure love according to some ppl...i too don't think it exist in our world.....its simply coze i cant love some1 without expressing that love..as they say making love is the highest level of love....

according to some definition platonic love is the desire to posses the good forever, its the love between 2 heterosexual ppl by being creative lovers to achieve some sort of immortality rather then just having temporary satisfaction..it says that platonic lovers are those who move from the love of the physical and individual to the love of the intellectual and general...so i guess its the purest kind of love...and its rare to find if it doesn't exist nowadays...

Ironically, the very eponym of this love, Plato, as well as the forementioned Socrates and Ficino all belong to the community of men who desired boys, and they all engaged in chaste but erotic pedagogic friendships with youths. The concept of Platonic love thus arose within the context of the debate pitting mundane sexually expressed pederasty against the philosophic or chaste pederasty elaborated in Plato's writings.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Platonic love is a chaste and strong type of love that is non-sexual (Example, a best friend).[1] The term "platonic love" can also be referred to as a secret love or an unrequited love

Two opposite sex can be in platonic love before they shift to normal love. Till the time they did not shift gears they were in principle, in platonic love. That simply means it exists. ;)

platonic.....?????????

im confuse by this word....

either the platonic u mean as a best friends like normal friendship OR special relationship like bf and gf type of relationship but disguise as a best friends kind relationship......

if the first meaning, i have tons of it........i keeep the guy as my best friends and calling them like my own brother......

if the second meaning, never have it in my dictionary....and i would never put myself in tht kind of situation. i can imagine hows the complicated of the feeling would b....it will b a nightmare for me to keep such a feeling..........cos i used to have a crush with a guy that i call my friends.......its really hard to control myself and its a tortured for me. so at the end i decided to stop the friendship cos its not a healthy friendship for me.....its a mental challenging doing that
