Sami Al-Hajj, prisoner 345 at the United States Detainment Centre in Guantanamo Bay Cuba, has been on hunger strike since 7th January, 2007.
Sami was arrested in Pakistan in December 2001 whilst travelling with a legitimate visa to work in Afghanistan as a cameraman for Al Jazeera. But he is being held as an ‘enemy combatant’.
Al Jazeera cameraman Sami al-Hajj has hit out at the US treatment of detainees at the Guantanamo Bay military prison where he was held for nearly six and a half years.
Saying that "rats are treated with more humanity", al-Hajj said inmates' "human dignity was violated".

Welcome Back,
i think once back he should share his bad experience and should write a book (autobiography) captioned "Days in Exile" or so..
Cheers
Lionheart, please don't make a Comparison between Sami and Che. Che was totally different than him and can't be compared.
Sami Al Hajj is in his own league together with the other innocent people detained by the US around the World.
freedom Sami al haj great freedom as Ernesto che Guivara welcome back home welcome back Arab World we are proud at you
سامي محي الدين محمد الحاج, welcome back
Welcome back Sami Al-Hajj, may Allah blessed you and your family for a better future and protection ......
None of us can even imagine what these people have been through. They deserve our admiration.
I will definetly be there as the entire process stinked and the lack of Human Rights for the personnel detained in Guantanamo Bay, and other Detainment centers the US got in Europe,Middle East and the Rst of the World should be a major concern for all of us - the next person detained might be me or YOU.
Most Importantly Sami stood up t what he believes he was offered a way out several times and spy on Al Jazeera but he refused and for that he spent 6 years.....
He really is an Idol when can look up to
Well said Britexpat...Imagine over six years of torture. he will need some heavy conuselling for what hes been through...even then im not sure this will help him forget his ordeal..
Its good that he's back safely.. Human rights and civil liberties have been trodden on using security and terrorism as an excuse..
welcome back Sami, what a journey this guy has been through..Glad he is back with his family...
