25000 QAR???

Hi,

Just been offered a Job in Qatar paying approx. 25000 QAR Plus company provided housing. If I accept the position I will be moving over with my wife.

Can anyone give me a rough idea as to the current cost of living in Qatar and how much I can expect to spend per month? I'm not an extravagant person, my main reason for moving over would be the financial incentive so I'd like to save as much as possible.

I'm from the UK if this helps.

mariecor, it is not a villa, but a Apartment and not Central A/C may be that is the reason why it goes up to 350 to 400 QAR...

FlyingAce, the QR 200 is the maximum bill for the current water & electricity of the QAC employee's accommodation in West Bay. I am also wondering why it is so less despite of more consumption of water & electricity. The other tenants of the building are telling the same. It maybe due to the central a/c that is free of charge to the occupants.

For your case will be different...as you got maybe a villa and not an apartment in a building with central A/C. Your airconditioning consumption will add up to your billing that is why you are paying more.

Forgot to mention...

Even if you are living in a Company Accommodation, then also if your Water and Electricity bill exceeds the set limit of your allowance, then also you will have a deduction from your monthly salary of about 150 to 200 QAR.

Car Allowance is about 1550 QAR per month, Laundry Allowance as well, Including Allianz Insurance, and a Bank Account in IBQ, Education Allowance as well of a QAR 50,000 Per Year till the age of 18 yrs...

If you have been offered by QA then its fine, but currently QA is giving Allowance rather then Company Accommodation, Technical Staff are being given 8000 QAR per month. but one thing QA has a Hire and Fire Policy, Every Day 20 are leaving and 30 are joining, so better make your mind before coming here....

mariecor, are you sure QR 200 for Water and Electricity.

My bill is Usually 350 to 400 QAR, in a 3 Bed Room House in a Porsche Location in Doha...

You can save with that money. I guess, you are a pilot. You maybe offered by Qatar Airways or QAC. I believe QAC as your salary offer is near to their standard salary. They provide good accommodation on towers in West Bay, with central A/C & internet. The upcoming hired employees accommodation will be in the Zigzag Towers, which is also a good accommodation in good location. The maximum utility bill (water & electricity) will be QR 200 only. You will spend maximum 10k for everything& it will be a luxury life. Then, you will save the rest. It will be a good saving. If you are a flight instructor, you will not get that salary in Europe or anywhere. So grab the offer!

you can expect to be saving 80-85% of your salary, gas is super cheap here, the main large expenses for families in Qatar is housing and education.

From your ID you seem to be a pilot and if the job offered to you is from a major airline company please check the posts on the said company first, it's track record of employee turnover then worry about their package.

You will need a vehicle for each one of you. Does the company provide ypu with a vehicle or allowance? Do you both get health insurance? Household electricity/water paid for?

Do a search of posts, many recent, of people who asked this kind of questions recently.

Good luck in making the right choice for you and ask away :)

6 years before I knew Qatar Airways was paying 25k to their Iranian pilots. There were some who were getting 35k too. Since you are from UK, you can negotiate for more
