hi...i know you guys have answered similar questions like mine ..but i really need some help...i was offered to work as a sales rep for one of the bank located in qatar,...i was offered 5k Qatari…I am still here in my country and I have to pay for a placement fee which would be equivalent to almost 5.5k Qatari. I was informed that accommodation and transpo is provided by the company, after being offered prior- for 1500 Qatari, it had me thinking that I have a good deal. But after reading past threads about salaries and the cost of living in Qatar, I am a bit scared now. Will my salary suffice for my living and will it help me to send money back home-if I would get a chance to actually go.

Please help me as your comments would truly help!

Thanks in advance!

5500 QR is OK for a fresh engineering graduate struggling to get a foothold in the industry, but not for a sales rep in bank. I think you will be able to save here only as much as you do in your country, even if it is India. Also beware the laws here heavily favour the sponsors, and once you are here, you cannot dream about a change of job. About saving potential you can expect to save around 3000 QR from that if you are a bachelor.

to answer ameer: transpo and accomodation is provided by the company

pitogohin: thank you for your detailed answer!it helped a lot!,though i was a bit disappointed that that the company would offer other nationalities differently.I hope I can get there in two months,(if all goes well!)

Again thank you!!!

at 5k monthly salary with free accommodation and transpo im sure u can earn and remit back home.other expenses?a good meal in fastfood resto will only cost you not more than QR30.if you'll cook your own meal it would be much cheaper and you may spend not more than QR1000 a month.fine clothing but not sgnature, will not cost you QR100.for a good sedan car,you may pay around QR1000/month installment for 5yrs,zero dp, oil is not a problem water is more expensive.for anything else it will depend on your lifestyle.there's not much gimmick places to spend your money here. is your salary at par with other bankers? a regular bank employee here normally receives yearly bonuses some more than once, free airfare, medical, gets yearly increase and other perks depending on job class.don't be surprise if other bankers with the same job class as you has salary of 50% to 100% higher than yours.some employers are really offering low range to some countries.in normal cases, there's no placement fee ask if bank is the employer.again,is QR5k enough?it will depend on you.if you are an all work,no play type, certainly you can save at least 70% of your income monthly.all work only?its a boring life.

IS THE PROPOSED SALARY INCLUDING ACCOMMODATION? MOREOVER, YOU ALSO HAVE TO PAY A PLACEMENT FEE EQUIVALENT OR MORE THAN A MONTH'S PAY WHICH SHOULD RATHER BE PAID BY THE EMPLOYER.

WELL, IT ALL DEPENDS HOW MUCH MONEY WOULD BE SUFFICIENT ENOUGH FOR YOU BASED ON YOUR STANDARD OF LIVING AND HOW MUCH YOU NEED TO SEND HOME, AND HOW MUCH YOU NEED TO SAVE. YOU NEED TO COME OUT WITH NOS. FOR THE ABOVE AND TAKE A DECISION.

ALL THE BEST TO YOU.

It depends upon how YOU spend the salary if it suffices you or not...
