If we talk about salaries in Gulf countries, you have the answer up there.

But if we talk about other countries, yes the University from where one gets the degree does matter.

Here you go the example from my personal experience. My hub’s business needs an accountant. I personally interviewed few of them, different nationalities. I asked each of them what is their salary expectation. I didn’t offer them anything, I just asked how much they want to be paid. Sri Lankans guys mostly were satisfied with 3500-4000 (ACCOUNTANT!!; Indians, depends on the experience were asking for 5000-8000, one british guy laughed when I mentioned salary range 8000-12000 for the accountant. Moreover, I was trying to call back this british guy, he even didn’t want to discuss anything less than 25000. At the same time sri-lankan guy kept calling me for over a week, begging to hire him for ANY salary… can someone explain to me WHY?

i love this saying:

if you're so smart then why are you so poor ?

stealth, and here we go again back to education and experience. Sorry, but qatari most likely prefer to learn the western way of running the business and western way of professionalism rather than sub-continental. It is qatar's choice... they want to see how americans (or british or canadians) do, not like sri lankans do. And it's understandable. They want to succeed, and therefore they have to learn from successful countries.

And again, my point is WHY DO YOU GUYS ACCEPT THE OFFERS, and then keep complaining that someone makes more?

It is simple, if you are convinced that you deserve more, go and find the position and compensation which you will be satisfied with.

Mandi its mainly th epassport that gives them the advantage.

Nowadays you can see a lot of immigrants from Canada who get a pay at least mulitple times more than what those guyys used to get with their original passports.

Definitely yes salary differs based on the color of the skin and passport. Even if you have an online college or fake credentials as long as you're white or having a distinct passport you'll receive salary higher by 3 fold.

You do realize, of course, that there is a HUGE disparity in the salaries of (for example) what you would call "white Americans" in Doha by as much as twenty-fold or more. This is due primarily to differences in education, occupation and experience. If it were only due to skin or passport color there would not be nearly the range of remuneration offered. Let me add parenthetically that it does take a good deal of salary to entice an American to move here because we still pay our taxes at home.

QS I just stated a fact, I wasn't complaining about it. I have made peace with it.

As for no jobs and no normal life for me or my family if I didn't come here.. well I can spend my entire life without working and me and my family can live a lavish life. Not everyone is here for the money, I have my own personal reasons behind moving to the gulf and they have nothing to do with money.

it still valid everywhere, stealth..

and it has nothing to do with skin color, whyteknight ... i mean in a way it does, but not because the employer forced ,you to accept a lower offer, but because you agreed to accept it. that is it. Another question: WHY did you accept this offer? Just because in your country you had no any job, and here you can live normal life and let all your family in your country live a normal life. I don’t think you would accept the offer it wasn’t beneficial for you. Simple as that. So blame on the government of your country which cannot provide enough jobs, or pay peanuts to the specialists.. and say "THANK you, Qatar for giving me this opportunity to make some money for myself and for my close ones, even with "on-line school" or with some forgotten village's "college" only...

Simply put, yes. If you have a degree from Harvard you will get a better job and make more money than with a degree from a community college or an on-line school.
