Help! Need Negotiating Qatar Airways Salary Advice. Urgent!
Qatar Airways has offered me a grade 6 position of Training Officer, Ground Services. I am a Canadian with 19 years airline experience, a Subject Matter Expert and have 12 years of training experience. They have offered me the following:
Basic Salary 8000QR
Transportation allowance 600QR
Housing Allowance 4000QR, or shared housing. Shared housing is not an option as I have been living alone for 17 years.
I have made a counter offer which has been rejected. They are not budging on their above mentioned figures. For the record, my basic salary expectation is 12000QR. I truly believe they are under valuing my expertise. Is this standard procedure for QR? I will counter offer again but would really appreciate direction or sharing our own pat experiences.
I also have also previously posted another entry entitled "Qatar Airways Salary".
Thanks for your assistance.
I am Canadian too.
Just don't accept this offer
All expats living in Qatar, should have read the Gulf times this week. I do not exactly remember the day or date, but the comment is that, knowing the economic situation in Europe, many are trying to get jobs here, earlier the question was - why asians (professionala) are not interested in the Gulf any more is due to the higher package and benefits they get back home.
I suppose, exclude the oil and gas sector.
I'm a little perplexed why they would go to the trouble and expense of a phone interview then then fly me into DOH for an in person interview all the while knowing my salary expectation was 12000QR/month. The Training Manager said during the phone interview that my salary would be "a little less than that". 33% less of my salary expectation is not my idea of "a little less than that".
Doubt if you will get much or any increase. QR has a lot of applicants for 99%of their positions. Unless your skill set/expertise is unique of course
I saw your post before and you posted it again. I guess you must be seriously considering this offer. Honestly, I know how much people here (the expat) are earning and what they are offering you is low, really low.
Unless you don't have a job in Canada and want to gain some experience. Else, my advice is no.
This offer is horrible. The rule is you need to be making at least 1 1/2 times MORE than you are currently making in your home country for it to be equivalent. Look at the classifieds and see what sort of place you can get for 4000. You would not be happy.
