How much salary on average for a secretary?

Please, my friends.

One of my friend got an offer of secretary work in a private company. The company offered her 4000 Qatari Riyals and free accommodation and transportation without other benefits.

We'd like to know if it is ok in Doha and if it is enough to live here and thus save some for herself?

Thank you!

Most of the people look for secretaries whom are under her husband's visa and have her own accomodation with the husband or family. That way you reduce a lot of headache.

Here the main issue is housing if you are housed (rather than the housing allowance) then you are much better off.

Its good as you will be saving almost the whole salary. Usually if there are 3-4 people staying together then they share the cooking expenses which comes within QR500 max.

So if you feel that sending home QR3200 to QR3500 is good take it up.

Qualified secretaries with excellent english language, good typing speeds and the ability to use their brains are worth their weight in gold.

Within such as QP I believe there are something like 3 levels of Secretary and obviously the pay scales vary depending on the grade of the job. There are other clerical type positions where the responsibilites attract higher salaries.

I understand from other QL posts that living costs have and still are increasing. Obviously, it's a matter of comparing what you can save from the QR4,000 against what you are saving now.

I would add but others may disagree, that there is no racial discrimination in salaries in QP at the Secretarial level.

Well if u r an indian or pakistan or any other asain nationality not more then 4000. In Doha color of the passport and nationality counts. Better color and nationality better salary, Allowances and benefits.....

...when it it comes to issues like this.

But i can say that the range is correct. Entry level office jobs with no university degree, pay in the range of 4000 to 5000 QAR/m. Allowances vary from company to company. Cashiers or sales people get half of that.

If it is enough to live on? you have to be more specific; for a single person? you would at least spend half of it for groceries and for shopping needs. As a second job for a couple? it would be more suitable. Good luck.

Salaries depend on Nationality, qualifications, work experience, sex, local or foreign contract.

So many factors are involved and no one can tell if the salary is good or no.

Some are getting 2000 for such post, some might get 10000.

Anyhow good luck for your friend.
