I was offer QAR 3,000 and QAR 1,000 for accomodation.

Is this enough, or low? Can I get a decent place to stay with QAR 1,000?

Currently, I am working as a Manufacturing Supervisor in a Japanese company in Phils. but salary is low so I am looking for greener pastures. I am a graduate of BS Mechanical Engineering from Mapua Institute of Technolgy batch 1997. Been working since 1998.

Mga Kababayan, please help naman po...

Try to negotiate it for at least 4,000.00 + 1,000 accommodation plus transportation, if not then don't accept. For more than ten (10) years experience, it is not enough and for sure you have your own family now. You can try other field aside from manufacturing sector??? say construction industry, maintenance, oil and gas, office engineer what I know in manufacturing industry, they offer less salary compare to other industry.

I will share my experience. I started working in Qatar Year 2003 where the offer is already 5,000.00 as Project Engineer plus car. I paying a shared room of 1,000.00. For 3 years in that construction company...WALA AKONG NAIPON FOR MY FUTURE!!!!....but after another 1 more year na pagtitiis, I reaped what I sacrificed. Now, I received a decent salary more than enough to give shelter for my 4 members of family here. Usually, for Filipinoes in the middle East, you have to gained at least 5 years gulf experience to be at the Senior/Management Level.

Dre,

To begin with, mababa talaga ang offer sayo... For your qualifications in a better company here in QATAR, you should at least have QAR7K as basic salary. The housing allowance is also very low. For your info, para meron kang kumportableng matutuluyan na sharing ang common areas but you have your own room, it would cost you around QAR 2-3K. Room pa lang yun!!! Eh yung transpo mo pa to and from work???

You should also consider the cost of living (its usually 2 - 3 times higher dyan sa Pinas). Example, a decent meal in MCDO here in qatar will cost you around QR 20 - 25 (Forex against Phil Peso x 12 na lang, P 240 - 300), combo meal na yan..hehehhehe... COmpared sa Pinas MCDo wherein yang amount na yan can go for 2 - 3 persons na...

Hello kabayan. Just giving my 2 cents worth here. Maybe more would like to give advise but you left out some info: i.e, have family/kids, is the offer more than what you're receiving now?

Here are some facts: Your salary's worth would highly depend on your lifestyle. Though you still can enjoy your life by living simply, which a lot of wise kababayan's are doing, may they be working in the oil industry or any high paying job. Bring a lot of books. Nothing beats the pleasure in reading!

Housing prices these days are going down, and you may want a shared room in a decent place(please check QL classifieds).

Hereabouts, and sorry to say, where you graduated back home doesn't count for much. It's your real time skills that will spell the difference or you can kiss butt to go up. Not to douse your expectations, over here you'll be used beyond your skills but not fairly compensated.

My suggestion: negotiate now for more salary, or look for a much better company. Don't be in a hurry. Don't miss this chance. Why aim the moon when you can reach the star?

Answer this truthfully: are you willing to sacrifice for that amount? Remember, NOBODY is immune from the attendant problems (goes with the territory) we(ofw) all experience.

But if you really feel for this job then go for it and may God bless you. You're most welcome to join the diaspora! :)

Don't accept it, it's lower than the salary of our secretary...10 yrs. experience Engineer must get at least minimum of 10,000 Riyals. Look for another employer and I know you will find one!

GOD Bless!

Kabayan,

This is very low. Try to negotiate atleast 7k basic + transpo & housing allowance. I-clear mo din kung may vacation leave at free airfare ka. Kung hindi mo na ma-negotiate, i think you have to look for another employer who can give you better package since well experienced ka naman.

Regards

No...that's very low. Batchmate pa kita at schoolmate. Trust me don't fall for it. There's no way you can get a decent room for a thousand riyals. 3000 QR basic salary is not also acceptable.

Don't accept it.
