Job offer in Dubai

First, I apologize for using this forum to request feedbacks on a job offer in Dubai.I have an offer from a major UAE company based in Dubai. Base: AED12500/month, Housing: AED9000/month or a company managed 3 bedroom furnished apartment, Transport: AED1100/month. Other benefits are 42 days of holidays, health insurance, annual return tickets, schooling for kids, gratuity plan, interest-free car loan, etc.The position is that of a performance and productivity manager. I am presently in the US and make a decent living - close to six figures salary. I am highly educated in the US (with engineering and MBA degrees from well renowned universities) and have 6+ years of work experience with major MNCs. I am married and we have one child.

Is this a good offer or can I do better if I wait and explore further?

Thanks, Yale.

Yes, I am currently employed and I am in no hurry to move to Dubai.... We fall in the 15% tax (both federal and state) bracket here in the US due to family status.... Of course we also pay ~6.5% in social security and Medicare taxes on top but that. Even after paying all these taxes my disposible income is over $6000 per month. Based on what I am hearing (1.5 to 2.0 times US salary) my base salary should be at least US$9000/month ~ AED33000/month. Even at the current rate of over US$6000, it should be at least AED24000/month + benefits.

I think I got the picture! Thank you all for your time and kindness.

...and you are currently employed, then the rule of thumb should be; take your net income in your base country, multiply it by 1.5 to 2.0, and that's what you should be making in GCC (Gulf) countries, regardless of all other allowances, trips, holidays and what not, which are important, nevertheless are not necessarily encashable and are there to be spent.

However if you are unemployed, and you do not foresee easy employment in your field of expertise, then keep looking for jobs that would pay you more than your current salary offer in Dubai and close to 1.5 to 2 times the net you could make in your base country.

Best of luck.

Your base salary is less than $4k/month. The norm for recruiting a professional from the US is a premium above their US salary + expat benefits (housing, car, tickets, ....). Also, don't count on the foreign tax break, since Uncle Sam now considers accomodation, schooling for kids, .. to be part of your taxable income.

If you take the company managed accomodation then the offer is not bad. But make sure that the accomodation that they provide you is fully fursnished and in a very good location. General cost of living is much cheaper than in Doha anyway. Most the foodstuffs that you get in Doha you get for half the price there.

sorry to tell you that but it might not be such a good offer, life in dubai is pretty expensive. there are many things you need to consider, the location of the accomodation the company provides, as dubai is really crowded and traffic is a headache, if you are earning close to a six figure salary then you have to deduct the tax and see which base salary is more.

The best thing that I see in your offer is the number of days of holidays and the tickets.
