I would appreciate if anybody can tell me which is better staying in our staff accommodation or leaving out?
I'm still here in our country and will start working hopefully next week in Ministry of Interior.
Any idea how much will be our housing, transportation allowance, other allowances?
Actually,my contract still in the agency. At least I have idea of how much will be the allowances or if there will be adjustment if any.

not all government agencies here in qatar offers the same rate for live out. my friend who is working in one of the ministries here in qatar with a senior position has offered by the ministry of QR 3000 for an accomodation with family status and QR 2500 for single status. My friend prefered not to encash the accomodation. now, she is staying on a 3 bedroom, 2 cr with kitchen flat worth QR 6000 plus furniture allowance. Since she is on a single status, she is living alone in the flat since they are not permitted to let others live with them unless they are her relatives.
A relative of mine is also working in the government hospital and was given the same rate of QR 3000 for a family status for living out plus furniture allowance.
If you are fine living with your officemates in the office and at home, then staying in your company provided accomodation will be fine. but if you want someone to see aside from your officemates when you go home, then its better for you to live out. you can search here in qatarliving for accomodation rates if you prefer to live out. Dont forget to ask for your furniture allowance ok?! sometimes, if you rent for a room, there will no bed, cabinet, etc. some offers for a shared kitchen utensils but some do not.
hopefully this will give you a good idea of how you negotiate with your salary package because when i came here, no one did told me about this and I ended up with a low salary package..though.. fine enough because it tripled my salary in the philippines. Good luck and God Bless!

and regarding about the housing allowance it depends on your company and position. Location of Staff house, sorry i dont have any idea. sorry..

kabayan! i choose leave out accommodation since the company provides me higher accommodation allowance ^_^
just try to make balance your budget since the bachelor flats you can find around 3000QR-6000QR.
