Need Advise : Is this a good job offer.??

I'm senior oil consultant with 27 years technical and leadership experience in oil industry with PhD degree ( GCC citizen ). I got a job offer from an oil company in Qatar as Pet Consultant :

- Basic Salary. QR 35,800/ month
- Housing Allowance - QR 17,000/ month
- Transportation Allow - QR 2,500/ month

Plus Medical care + 25 days yearly vacation with paid Tickets + childer education assistance

I have tried to negotiate a higher salary but they told me this is a very competetive offer.

Is this really a very good offer - shall I take it. ....???

Any advice is highly appreciated... I need to say yes or no by one week from now

Thank you

SHB

don't you think he should address this to a financial analyst?

i mean its a consultant position and not some labor job that can't afford professional fee for and advise.

i mean its almost 50k QR man. its not like asking a 700 qr labor salary.

like any consultant here in QL that can level with the OP?

coz i believe its hes fellow consultant that can give him the closest advice.

even if we give good advice, you are still the one who will decide if its good or not for your career. even we say that it is not a good offer, but to yourself that is a good one, then whom decision will you choose? us or yourself. whatever advise given to you by everybody, that is their opinion. its up to you whom to follow. if your not happy with the offer, dont accept it. but remember, you cannot please everybody. maybe, some job applicant will grab the opportunity. whether we offered a high salary or low salary, we are the one who is controlling ourself, not others. whatever advice either good or bad, you are the one who will decide.

@shbassam4--yes,this is also true that while answering a question, one should talk related to topic. The person who is asking hopes some helpful reply from others not the unrelated discussion.Anyway,as I am not from your field,I can't opine on ur offer. But it appears lucerative to me.All the best!!

To krd-doha : if you are making a comment on QL, you need to focus on the point of discussion and to understand what it is all about. I'm asking simply on a job offer and the person you are now defending is telling that I should be happy since there are people they can survive with QR 700 a month!!! Nice Logic!!

There is a big differnce between avoiding telling nonsense statements and to shut up ( which I never used or thought of). I hope this is clear now for you!

If you are asking question on QL,u have to here all of the users. You can't tell anybody to shut up.If u don't like the answer, don't pay attention to it;but u can not tell to shut up to anybody.

Don't worry about Qatari salaries they will be triple what you have been offered. Your just an expat here, being a GCC citizen does not matter

Is this a joke?. Pet is a short word for petroleum. So the job we are talking about is " Petroleum Consultant". I hope your shock is over by now. Thanks

GCC Citizen Compare the package with your current one

If Qatar Offer is Higher.... Grab IT

Thanks to all of you for your comments and quick responses.

As a GCC citizen, I'm not familiar with standard job offers given to Expats (and GCC) vs. Qatari citizens in oil companies in Qatar. In other words, Does this job offer I got above is an Expat- type of package and how it is different if compared to a Qatari national offer with similar experience and qualifications??

Any comments on this will be appreciated. Thanks a lot

I was shock with the offer..

At first understood it as "Pet" Consultant..

I'm sure consultants are paid more than that, so that's for you to decide really..

Dear Richard,

First of all, thanks for your comment. Second, I'm asking here for advice, not for pepole to make a job decision on my behalf. Getting what you deserve does not contradict with being happy of what you have , so please stop giving nonsense statements.

I think as per ur experience and qualification the salary is less....Negotiate more and if ur current salary is less than it then go ahead....Best of luck

just compare it with your current salary and you will know the answer

your the one to decide, not us. if you think that is good for you, then accept it. there are many foreign workers who has a salary of only QR700 but still, they manage to survive. be happy of what you have.

MashaAllah ! I am always happy when someone makes good progress in the life.

I believe your salary is short of 1OK and annual leave by 10 days.

Still I suggest you to take this offer ..

Wish you more smiles in the future !
