Hi People, I have been offered a job here in Doha, I would like to share some insights of it & would request if some of you can really help me with your valuable feedback. A quick Intro. on me - I am engineering graduate and have total 5 yrs. of experience in Business development & Sales Support function (Inside sales, lead generation, customer acquisitions for north america market) I have been offered a similar kind of role here in Doha along with some more additions like working on tenders + client meetings etc. The company from where I have got this opportunity is a local start up and have done a partnership with US based world leader in a cutting edge technology in IT domain with $4000/monthly = 14.5k QAR/monthly all inclusive. Guys who are currently working there, can you please help me in understanding if it is really worth taking this know the fact that I am married along with a 2 months old daughter. Looking forward to hear from all of you. If wanted to write to me separately please feel free to do that @ [email protected] Regards, Akhand

Thanks for your valuable comments !! Appreciate it.

Also, couple of questions if you can help me with.

1. I'll be on the payrolls of the locally Qatari based company (not on the US based MNC) which is just a start up. However they had a grand launch recently where lot of high profile gathering shown interest like ministry of commerce / economy etc. Is it ok to go and join such start up company there ? In india we see every day companies open & close how is the situation there?

2. In any due course of my employment - I have heard usually the employer takes your passport and keep it with himself & force you to work & as per his wish or convenience. Is that true ? Do they ask your passport during any point of time ?

Hope to have some more insights on this.

Regards,

Akhand

If you are planning to bring your family in the long run, you will need to rent an apartment which would cost you around QR 4500 per month. Your other expenses which includes food will be around 3000 with your family here. The rest is all in your pocket. Your savings also depends on your lifestyle. You can now compare your current savings with what you will be making in Qatar and decide on whether you should accept the offer or not. I have stated the above approximate expenses thinking that you are an Asian. For westerners, the above cost of living may not hold true.
