hi.. engineers working in qatar.. i need your help badly.. im 23 yrs old and im about to sign a contract as an electrical engineer (fresh) in CEGELEC based on doha,qatar.. they offered me 3000 qatar.. my visa is ready..
its 3000QR plus free transpo, accomodation, annual roundtrip, medical benefits. im single and has 1yr experience only.. do you think its fair enough for entry level? mga kababayan.. tulong naman..
the problem is, im having a hard time to decide if i will accept the contract.. guys pls help me to decide..
1. what is the first thing i need to do/check im my papers/contract/employer/agency etc.?
2. how is the working environment for engrs?
3. what should i expect? culture? social life? past time? night life?
4. is 3000 enough? whats the average cost of living?
5. and what are the things i need to consider when working in qatar?
6.COMSIP AL A'ALI (CEGELEC) does anyone here know about this company? is it a good company?
i need your feedbacks badly..any advice or opinion will be very much appreciated.
mr. charanmafiriyals

I mean experience, sorry.

I suspect for this wage you are not a fully qualified electrical engineer. Are you an electrician?
I have a lot of experiende with Comsip in Qatar and Cegelec in Europe. They are the preffered contractor for Instrumentation and Electrical for my previous company.
In Qatar they have a good reputation for doing a quality job on time.
They are also very active in Bahrain.

"then you will have 200% more offer than this one,,"
Where is the NOC to get a new job :)
Ban Spoon Feeding not Me
go for that since the accomodation and trans is available..
at least get an experience for 2 years.. then you will have 200% more offer than this one,,
good luck
Does anybody can tell me where is COMSIP AL A'ALI in DOha?
yep, thats why i might still consider it.. comparing on what i hav here in the phils for a freshie.. 3k is not bad after all for a trainee... plus the overseas experience...tnx guys...
btw, looking forward to meet you guys...tnx esp owen. ;0
take it take it... you still dont get that kind of salary sa pinas. good luck.
xplode.. it will be for your protection buddy and it is better to have it stated in your contract.. but as you said you got no time.. so have it clarified as soon as you get here.. im afraid i dont have enough time, and i dont have a direct contact with my employer. im just waiting for the instructions of the agency..
is it really need to be written on the contract?
i thought salary increase will surely take effect after probationary/training period just like here in the philippines. isnt it?
tnx a lot owen.. ur such a big relief..
xplode...if you can have it revised now that after your probation/training you are subject for an increase...but if you got no time...hmmmmm, just prove to them that you deserve better from what you are getting as soon as you start working..just to be in the safe side better remind them in writing once you get here..
goodluck then and see you soon.. you may want to check us out from here.. http://qatarliving.com/group/filipino-expatriates-in-qatar

Xplode, take it. You may not save a lot but it's better than working as a cadet engineer or junior engineer in our country. As I've said in the other thread, focus you attention in getting experience, for sure, it will be hard at the start because of the adjustment but as I said, it's a matter of focussing in your priorities. You are still young and a lot of opportunities awaits you here or in other countries. Be patients, try to gain experience as advice by the others. Just prepare yourself to be away from your love ones for sometime (it's really hard but with determination, you can pass it).

tnx a lot owen..
they told me that 3000 is just for a training period of 3months,since im a freshie, but it is not stated at the contract.
its just a verbal agreement bet me and the interviewer. and im afraid that my salary will be 3000 for 2yrs..
are they true to their words?
or can i hav my contract revised as soon as i arrived to doha?
my visa is ready and im just waiting for my plane ticket.
tnx guys..
xplode here is my advise for you... how long is your contract with your company? 2 years? if so, since you are saying that you initially want experience, then its ok to accept the offer as long as you meet both ends with your salary (this depends on your lifestyle when you get here)...
once you gain experience and you will end contract, will you be offered a release after your contract? if yes, then accept the offer...
one more thing, you have to prove your worth once you get here coz you will have great possibility to increase your package once they see how you work with their company..you will not be forever with that package, you can always request to have it increased..
hope this helps..

no allowance for transpo and accomodation.. the company will provide bachelor sharing accomodation and motor vehicle for transpo.. is this ok?
.
how much is your tranpo allowance?
-it should be QR. 1,500 t0 QR. 2,000.
accommodation allowance?
-from QR. 3,500 to QR. 5,000
.
In my opinion,
Basic salary is low but pwede mong tanggapin if:
-transpo and accommodation allowance is close to above bracket.

mr.A salamat..
Honestly, i feel you should gain some experience and then try to apply in the gulf. The problem here is that you cannot change your job easily, like you would back home. If u come here and get into a contract with just 3k, u will be stuck with that for a long time. The best option would be to gain a few years experience and then apply for work in the gulf. You would get double the amount (or more).

thanks for the feedbacks.. i need more ideas and opinions pls...thanks guys..
its 3000QR plus free transpo, accomodation, annual roundtrip, medical benefits. im single and has 1yr experience only.. do you think its fair enough for entry level? mga kababayan.. tulong naman..
