Qatar and Bahrain Employment

Hello po sa lahat dito sa forum.

I am a civil engineer working right now here in Bahrain, and was just hired by an international engineering consultancy firm in Doha, Qatar and their contract states that I will be recieving a basic salary of QAR 8,500.00, accommodation allowance of QAR 2,500.00 and a car allowance of QAR 1,500.00. I will also be provided a round trip ticket on my annual vacation leave (30 days). I am now waiting for my visa and plane ticket.
Meron naman po nag-offer sa akin na company dito sa Bahrain, international consultants din and they offered a basic salary of BHD750.00, accommodation allowance of BHD200.00 and a transportation allowance of BHD75.00.
Medyo mataas po ang offer sa akin jan sa qatar, pero taking into consideration po ang cost of living, which offer would be better?
Salamat po..

Better check what kind of employer does the company here in Qatar. May ibang inconsistent stipulations in the contract. besides medyo mataas tlga ang costs of living dito sa Doha. Mas mabuting ang mag company background ka muna as to what kind of employer, turnover of staff (of same position). Kung mas maganda sa Bahrain dyan ka na lang. Booming nga ang Qatar but the salary I guess very minimal lang ang increment.

If your career prospects in Qatar are better then it is fine (as Qatar is booming) else you may regret you decision with that kind of salary in Qatar. I have recently moved from Bahrain to Qatar (3 months back) but only with a substantial increment in salary.

Accomodation cost in Bahrain are 3 times cheaper besides other day to day living costs. It is very difficult to move from job to job in qatar as the labour laws are very very restrictive.

Ask for company provided accomodation (check out accomodation rates in this site) and then you'll be fine as Qatar is booming and engineers are desperately required.

I hope you've asked this question in time inorder to negotiate further.

if you are a single person, moving or planning to move, then this offer is a nice one to get along in Doha with...

No probs, I would suggest you take it...but in the other scenario, the living costs in Qatar is slightly higher than Bahrain, but then still the offer given to you is a decent one...

So your choice...its pretty much the same Bahrain Vs Qatar...so dont worry even if you dont take this offer or you take the offer...

IT is a nice and simple one...

Cheers...take care...
