Qatar Foundation ???
Hi,
I have got an offer frm Qatar Foundation for 22,000 QR a month package.
I would like to know the following:
a) How good is Qatar Foundation ? I read a negative post in this site and I just want know more.
b) Is 22K QR a good salary ? What does a decent 1BHK apartment cost close to QF? I do read that rents are soaring.
c) Any other tips I would be welcome.

is it true that there is no job security for expatriate in Qatar Foundation? Normally, how long is their employment contract?
Qatarization is no different then affirmative action in the west. It did not work well in the west so why would it work here? Can we not learn from global lessons learned?
What I see is Qatari's being encouraged to take roles well beyond their skills. People taking roles as managers with no skills on how to run a business. Totally crazy... Qatar will learn it's lesson in 30 years when no one in the state can walk do to obesity as everyone hires people to walk for them, or worse they have never learn how to.
Not to be too over the top, but let’s have some perspective people!
It has become apparent to me that there is way too much ignorance about salary and benefits in Qatar against the reality of living in the UK or US.
Some “Talented senior project management types come here in good spirit only to find that they are being ripped off in contrast to people less talented but being paid close to the same. Before arrival recruits are told “lies that their offer is high at 30 to 35K Riyals for life in Qatar. Not true when a villa that you would live in back home would cost you 25 to 35K Riyals per month here in Qatar – just for the flat that you would have back home. Only the un-skilled that arrive think 30-35K is a lot as no one would pay them it back home since they are UN-SKILLED - as only talent is highly compensated back home (generally). No wonder the state is in such a poor condition. The leadership just does not get how to compensate talent the way that the west does. That is why it is taking so long for change to occur and for things to progress. The talent leaves and only the sediment remains.
If you are good and would be considered at the top of your profession in the UK or US then you should expect to be paid in the 50 to 80K per month in total compensation here in Qatar. To some this may seem a lot but at the top of your game in England one would be making 100 to 150K GBP per year - now convert that to Riyals and that is a compensation package (after tax) of 60 to 70K QAR per month.
So start asking for proper packages as Talented Expats are being ripped off and will not stay if the state doesn’t catch on – worst of all Qatari’s will suffer from slow progress. Talent costs, so step up Qatar and pay properly to keep knowledge in Qatar, or as the Scientist told you during the convention – Why should I come back?

JB,
Skimming thru your last msg, i have a feeling that the position is HR related :) am i wrong ?
Hi everyone,
Thanks for an early response. The role which I have been offered in senior role. I have the following q's:
a) Is Qatarisation happening at all levels in QF ?
b) Is the attrition or job turnover rate high at QF ?
c) Are salaries at QF comparable to QP ?
d) Initially, I am planning to start off in average accomodation and then figure out things in job & acco. How much does a 1 bedroom apartment cost in Qatar in good area and relatively new building ?
e) If any one wishes to take it offline, I Would be happy to at: alladdin77 at yahoo.com
22K is good, housing is expensive, cost is 6 to 10K/month for anything worth living in. QF is a good place to work but job security is shaky without a good long term contract. They do tend to replace Expats with Nationals on a frequent basis. You train the local, they let you go and replace you with a Qatari.
If you have to pay all your living expenses from the 22k, not so good.
a) Qatar Foundation is one of the finest working communities in Qatar.
b) Good salary? 22K is freakin' awesome! I think they'll provide you a home close to QF.
c) If you got the job, would you help me to work there? I am so talented.
