QP cutbacks

I have heard QP will be making cutback announcements from next week. Does anybody know the exact nature of these? Layoffs or just a recruitment freeze? I am guessing this year's pay rise is going to be very basic. Anybody know more about this?

Revisiting this topic 7 years ago.... Now it is again the same story happening for QP and all its subsidiaries. Recruitment was on-hold & frozen in late 2014 til now, only critical roles or some replacements. But overall hiring for new vacancies are on-hold. Next phase is staff reduction planning & finalisation this Q4. Either this Q4 or next year January, implementation of terminations leaving hundreds of Expat employees with their families to be asked to go back to their point of origin...

Nagat, Most reason probably is not from them, it is from the Ministry of Labor, they were not given an approval, to recruit foreign worker. But as i said,i heard it last week from from somebody, they are not going to add employment, all Oil Companies, not just QP, because of cut in oil export.

hi chocolateorange, i believe that it is not fair for you to expose your employer in a public forum like this. i would regard this as unethical, and should be stopped. talk about your employer, why you have to name it? aren't you sensitive enough to know that you may be discussing or exposing confidential information?

nagat_helmy. Sorry to hear that, but the fact is if they don't want to give you a reason they cannot be forced to, but obviously it is not very nice of them.

Probably no one will ever tell you the reason and there is no way of pushing them to give you the reason.

Dear all,

I had applied for QP and signed an offer for Admin assistant 3 weeks ago, then i went to get the CEID permession as a husband sponsoered, this week i got the refusal without resons. i thought that because of crises

and someone told me that maybe will be because of the disagreement between our country president (EGYPT) ANG QATAR prince

anyone advice, is it normal not to give reasons for rejection??

They are going to stop adding staff because there is a decline in oil export. It was not said if there is a lay off maybe because alot of sponsored Qatari students are graduating, my daughter is one of them...

Yes I work for QP, hence my concern.

I had heard the same thing about recruitment, although I know the freeze is not immediate or complete. I have also heard that staff on definite contracts are going to have to work to get renewals(a novel concept in QP). And other goodies to be revealed next week. I haven't been able to squeeze the exact details out of my contact, but I know it's coming soon.

The debate about oil prices is long and complicated. All I would say is that there are plenty of experts who would disagree with your view that the only way is up. People forget that we had $10 a barrel less than a decade ago. Nothing is inevitable.

ASK DIRECTELY TO QP MANAGEMENT. WHY U R WORRY ABOUT THAT? R U WORKING IN QP?

NEXT MONTH ONE OF MY FRIEND IS COMING 2 JOIN QP.

DEFINETELY OIL PRICE WILL COME UP!!!!!!!!!!!!TODAY IT IS BELOW 35$ PER BARELL

coming from a reliable source, the coming QP cutback will be focusing on recruitment freeze. there won't be any layoffs...not yet

Yes I appreciate it is happening in every part of the world, and it is inevitable here. I wondered if anyone knew what form they would take.

Obviously not...

I do know that some levels of management have been informed, and that the news will be public after Sunday.

I have no idea, sorry. But judging from my own experience, QP would benefit greatly by removing all the dead wood that it currently employs, and by recruiting people who are interested in WORKING and ACHEIVING.

Too many QP employees of a certain expat group have no real interest in their jobs, their priority is only to keep their job AT ALL COSTS.

They play office politics and bootlick in order to cling on to their jobs like limpets, even though they are worse than useless and are actually an embarassment to the company. Those of you within QP will know which particular expat group I am talking about.
